Crosslé 32F restoration
Hi,
A friend of mine has had his 32F lying under wraps in his garage for the last 12 years approx, we have decided to get it back to racing condition. We need to replace some parts like brake discs, pads & master cylinders etc, Can anybody tell me the best place to get parts. Also the engine hasnt been run since then. Is there anything that should be done before we try & fire it up again? Thanks Dave |

The best advice regarding the engine is don't fire it up until it's been stripped & checked. If you must start it, the oil & filter need to be changed, the fuel cell & all the rubber hoses are likely to be perished & prone to leak. The oil pressure must be brought up to circulate it through the engine before firing it for the first time.

I purchased a FF last year that had stood for 12 years in an underground car park, the best advice i could give is that you get the engine top and tailed, for a few hundred pounds its not worth the risk of scoring or worse to the engine. For this and general parts try RSM and Hawke motorsport, both of which are very helpful and realistic about charges. If you join the CFFC you'll probably get a discount.

Thanks For all the replies. I have sent Arnie an e mail with a list. As regards the engine. What plugs should I use. I took the old ones out & there a Bosch plug but there is no numbers on them. Also the oil filter looks like its a paper insert type, again does anyone know a part number for the oil filter.
Also the brake & clutch master cylinders are shot, can you get a seal kit form them or should I replace them?? Thanks Dave P.s. How do you upload pics to the thread?? |

I had a Crossle 32F; great cars!!
Have you considered converting it to a 33F and racing it in the Historic FF2000 Championship? www.historicff2000.co.uk/ At Race Retro I noticed the top 1600 cars being sold for £9,000-ish; average FF2000 are worth £14k +; might be a way of increasing the value of you car, while you're restoring it it

RCW have a 33F 2000 car for sale; so no need to convert any of the 32F's
