V8 Development Series
I really thought that there would be a lot more level 1 supported cars running in the Dev Series this year. Were their less running in Adelaide because of the known carnage Adelaide always causes? What happened to the Smiths Trucks guys? Where are all the Holdens? Why aren't any level one Holden teams getting behind anyone (except for Kelly/D'Alberto..) I really thought there wuld be a lot more stiff competition and that it would step up in professionalism too... Have had a look at the V8 Supercars website and not even evryone has websites!! How are fans supposed to keep up (with out coming here!!!). Howard racing site, Decina site, Steve Ellery site and D'Alberto sites (co-incidently the only really competitive teams...) are the only decent ones... what do you think??

There are a few other Holden teams in the field, the ex-Dynamik car in the hands of Mr Verdnik, teammate Aaron McGill, Grant Elliott.... and some other guys learning their craft in this series like Mark Papendell, Scott Loadsman etc.
There is no HYL, no Smiths Trucks... politics, budgets, lack of drivers etc are all to blame... Having said that, there are still a load of Holdens around... the IRC championship winner is still in Mr Brant's garage... |

It just seemed that there were a lot more high quality fords... McDonald even had the old Steve Ellery BA, but put it into the wall in testing... Where do all the old Perkins cars go? How about the old Team Kiwi and other holden teams for that matter. Surely they're not all running 3 year old VY's...??

The 2004 TKR VY with VX engine aboard is sitting in Norwell at PMM... and remains TKR's spare for this year...
...the very last of the CPR VXs (the much crashed and unloved 2004 Dumbrell/Longhurst/Davison unit) has been put out of its misery and converted to a VY bodied (but not suspended) ride car... there are a few CPR cars around, but in recent times, LP's mob hasnt been bringing out 2 or 3 new cars a year for a ready made secondary market... and any that have been good enough were converted to VY... ..there are still 2 GRM VT/VXs in that team's workshop gathering dust, one of them the 2000 Bathurst winner... if Mr Rogers would sell it anyway... ...Symbol has a few VX/VYs laying around, but unless you have an "in" with the factory, getting your hands on one will be virtually impossible... ..Tasman is still trying to relieve itself of their VX... There are some cars around, but unlike the Ford runners who were so deliriously happy to junk the AU model, most VXs seem to have hung around teh workshops and been converted to VY, or retained as ride cars or museum pieces... |

I can't believe that there is no HYL car or cars.......after the pressure tactics that they used to get a driver to sign - it's pretty shameful.

Judging by the yellow cage, I'd have sworn that the car now being run by Scott Loadsman was a Lansvale build, and I recall reading (perhaps in MNews) a while ago that the other Lansvale built VX's was going or had become a Kelly/Kelly ride car Last edited by mitchie; 28 Mar 2005 at 11:29. One of the HYL drivers - name eludes me - from last year was pressured into signing for this year with the threat of him missing out on an enduro drive. So he signed, got the enduro drive, and is racing where this year? I knoweth not....

I think I can help you out with this one JDI. As I do have some knowledge of this arrangement.
Kurt Wimmer is the driver and their was no pressure as you suggested before the enduros last season, HYL contracts are for 2 seasons anyway so his 04 contract covered 05 without additional signing necessary. John and alyson Faulkner are fine people and the fact they are not on the grid this year is purely the fact that there has been internal politicing with Holden and the Weel deal and fines we all know about and have discussed at length. Kurt has had other offers for this season but has chosen to honour his contract with HYL nad should appear on the grid from R3 as stated by JF in AA. |

The Smith cars went to Lake Gairdner for a hit out on the salt lake - anyone know how they went?

The news up here about Kurt is how AAB says. He is still looking for sponsorship but does not have to find as much money now as he did before. I don't know where the car is being sourced from though if in fact they do have a different ie. new car for this year.

I'm pretty sure the team had financial trouble and had to shut up Mid to Late last season.
