race fuel
I own a 1988 ford van diemen and race at castle combe.
What I would like to know is how big the fuel tank is on this car ? I currently race with too much fuel in the car as I never know how much to use or how much is in there (yes I need a measuring stick) Can anyone advise on how best to fill the tank as maths was never my strong point Cheers |

Fill the tank full and then remove fuel pipe from carbs/inj and pump out into measuring jug now you know how much the tanks holds. Fill the tank full again before you go out for practise take note of how many laps you do then pump out whats left in the tank. Then you will easily be able to work out how much fuel you use per lap. We always pump our tanks dry measure and refill after each session.
You will not use as much fuel in the Wet. |

if its the same as a rf89 you can use a dip stick. i used a bamboo one. basically empty the tank (22-25 litres) then add 1 litre at a time. each time mark it off against the stick and keep doing it. when finished you will have a dipstick with markings all the way up informing you. if its a pain like more modern FF then go for chiron method like me
