TSR has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
Going on what they said on CH10 a bunch of Holden drivers ( MS.GM.TK.RK) got together b4 the race and had a whinge about starting.

A lot of people are unaware of how efficient TV camera filters are and how much worse rain will be than what it would seem from the vision you see.

A safety car start is much better than no start at all!

I thought it was a good call actually. Imagine the whinging if half a dozen cars got taken out on the first few corners, everyone would be bleating about how unsafe it was...

Cheers,
Paul...

For god sake these people are getting payed big dollars, do we have to put them into cotten buds. The rain was not that bad at the start compared to the finish of the race. The drivers today are starting to get really soft.

Placebo should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
I think it was a good call.
Starting behind the SC meant getting a good idea of safety level before going to full green.
All it would take would be one locked brake going into the first corner on cold tyres and everyone else from that position back would have ploughed into the pack in the mist.
My only question is, if a race starts behind the SC and conditions don't improve after that point in time, do they just keep parading around in single file to the end?

I heard on the radio that they wanted the drivers to get the tyres up to temp.
It was a good call by the officials and they deserved to be praised for this.

What's more appropriate, bravado or stupidity ??

Common sense would dictate that there's no point in risking literally millions of dollars worth of race cars just to entertain the armchair experts and the yobbos on the hill.

But then again common sense is probably not as common as most would think...

Cheers,
Paul...

There would have been a startline crash somewhere, with 650bhp thru 2 rock hard and for reasons not quite clear, inconsistent Dunlop control tyres, some cars would have made lightning starts, others would have made the Morris/Larko crash at Oran Park look like a picnic.

I was there (getting drowned I might add) and they had 2 options, delay the start till it fined up... which it did after 45mins or so, but got worse again, or start under the safety car...

And WPS got some teev time

The rain seemed no worse than in Pukekohe last year, and they ran that from a standing start.

Coupled with the red flag finish, do we not race in wet conditions anymore, rather than drying? (that seems to go for many categories nowadays, remember Brazil last year)

And to think the sponsors would probably prefer wet conditions, it keeps all the cars nice and shiny and clean....

If you think about it, there would be a lot of spray from other vehicles during a rolling start, perhaps more than from a standing start.

A lot of the cars looked pretty grey from the road grime after five laps.

Eastern Creek seems to live up to it's name when it rains. The track seems to become one big river.

Maybe a powerboat race there would have been more appropriate......

It was good to see the WPS car start in front and then take the flag at the end of the race! How many points is the WPS Audi on after this round, should be looking good for the championship.

I think it was a bit of a joke . it wasn't that bad at the start these drivers are paid drivers in very safe cars it was a bit of a over kill . AS far as saftey into turn 1 a standing start the cars would be a lot slower into T1 compared to the rolling start speed they carried into T1

Just a question - why single file and not formation such as NC?
