Fire at SBR workshop

Just saw on Ch10 news that there was a fire at the SBR workshop.
The cars and equipment were undamaged.

1200Datto27 has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
Was actually the flooring company next door, but the SBR crew had to douse parts of the workshop to prevent the fire from transferring to them.

Could have been a bad way to start the year off.

storyline should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
This issued by V8SCA:

Quote:
V8 Supercar Champions Stone Brothers Racing has escaped any damage after fire destroyed a building directly behind their multi-million dollar headquarters at Yatala, just north of the Gold Coast, this morning.

A carpet warehouse at the rear of the SBR workshop was completely destroyed by the fire. Fire crews and emergency services contained the blaze to the carpet warehouse, preventing any damage to the SBR facility or surrounding businesses.

All SBR staff, numbering more than 50, were evacuated by emergency services along with all of those working in businesses in the immediate vicinity.

“It was a scary morning, that’s for sure,” said SBR team owner Ross Stone who watched in fear as millions of dollars of his equipment, including the winning 2005 V8 Supercar of Russell Ingall, sat in his two factory workshops just metres away from the blaze.

“The Fire crews and the emergency services staff were unbelievable. I can’t thank them enough for the work they did not only for our buildings but all of those around us.

“They kept the fire contained and the only thing we suffered was some heat to the rear wall of one of our buildings. They were amazing and we all thank them for their great work.”

Stone assured the media and all those concerned who had phoned the workshop that it would be back to business on Monday morning.

“It was a close call but everybody is okay,” Stone said.

“We will get back to the business of race cars on Monday and our bid to win a fourth straight V8 Supercar Championship Series in 2006.”

What a bugger i missed the news, i bet there were plenty of nomex balaclava's (still in there packets) for the guys to slip on and fight the fire

I know it is cruel, but i have a warped sence of irony

Glad to see everybody was OK thats the main thing! Also another burning issue, all those balaclavas would have saved a lot of carpet burns!
