And, I gather, likely to remain so until the (any) new owners take over and see how it fits in to their plans.

Donnington has now been sold so hopefully the new pitwall may be coming.

My guess is that the circuit will now be so busy that unless they have to do the work to satisfy a contractual commitment (e.g. to MotoGP) any significant changes will have to wait until next winter.

I wonder if the new owners will be more marshal savvy in the same light as MSVR. They seem to be talking alot about more Rock concerts and stuff like that but not alot being said about the circuit.

Yes, but remember that what you have seen so far is outward facing industry, press and PR stuff. The next month or so should give us some idea.

Interesting article on Pitpass mentioning the fact that one of the reasons that this new group have bought the land and the circuit could be to compete with Silverstone for the GP

The pitpass article seems to make very little reference to 4 wheels and only seems to mention 2 wheels, return of the Superbikes and World Motorcross, which will no doubt involve ripping up most of the infield to make the track.

I know they have plans for a hotel outside the perimeter wall and to build a new exhibition centre. I can see major car meetings getting pushed to the outside and the main money going on exhibitions, conferences and bike meetings.

I will wait and see what happens, after all can it be any worse than Live Nation.

The article I was on about was published today and its title is "A different kind of threat to Silverstone?"

You couldn't run F1 out of that pit lane, you can't safely run endurance racing out of it as it is at the moment. If that was a £3m rebuild then they'd would have to do it again.

I'd imagine there are a lot of people at Silverstone who'd be very glad to have the problem of the GP taken away from them! The GP cash cow died some years ago......

Equally, there are lots of people who would hate to see the F1 GP at Donington.

think it will benefit donington, the place needs so much spent on it from a spectator viewpoint in terms of grandstands or at least covering some of the banking. also a nice road link to both the M1 and the A50 would be nice as well

Has Tom actually sold the circuit? Or is it yet another leaseholder?

Lease for 150 years according to motor sport news. So by 2157 it might be the best bicycle race track in the country

I guess the new owners want a return on the investment, and must look away from the motorsport. At the moment using the land as fully as they will do that. Could end up with an industrial estate with the fasted road access ever!
