Question from another forum on Vancouver Race
Does anyone know if the Vancouver track layout has changed much from two years ago? If so, where's the better views from?

The track hasn't changed at all. The best seats in the place are still the Gold Grandstands. I think those seats go for around $120 for the three days and include a paddock pass. The Silver Grandstand at the end of the back straight is a good spot, and that is where most of the passing occurs. As for GA there is a tonne of great plaaces. The best I found was on the grassy hump just north of Science world. Lot's of people sit there though so get there early.
Planning on attending this year? |

I found the best place to watch was around the inside of the racetrack in the paddock area... Of course you have to get a paddock pass, but this is definitely the best place to see the cars up close. We watched the start standing on one end of the bridge that goes over the start-finish straight. Got to see Mikey spin, it was great!

The Vancouver track has not changed substantially in the last three years. I personally like the silver grandstands at turn 6 the best for action. If you're high enough up and close enough to the T6 edge of the grandstand you can see the cars enter the runoff and do their fun little three (or more) point turns to get back out. Two years ago we had three of them in there at once in qualifying. That got a little hairy. It's also a good spot for "flying" cars -- we have had a champ land on top of the tirewall at the entry to the runoff more than once.
An added attraction at this spot is Mario's Gelato just outside the gates! And if the weather's good, the view to the hot tubs across track is decorative. :-) keke |
