I presume this series has died even before a single race meeting,,, wonder what happened to the couple of chassis Mr Rouse nailed together?

I believe there wasn't sufficient interest shown and some of the calculations on budgets were a bit optimistic - it would have been as cheap to run in the BTCC which is already established and has live TV coverage.

its a shame it died, would have been good to bring DTM style to the BTCC.

SCV8 was stand alone not BTCC. I actually feal that BTCC is going away from what it was and should be i.e. four door saloons that MR 2+2 drives as a rep-mobile then ferries family around at weekend.
I would like to know what happend to the X Type siloutte that was on display at Autosport 2004. |

i prefer the variety offered under the btcc rules, the different bodystyles all seem to be pretty competitive against each other. even with different manufacturers coming into the wtcc there isn't variety that you get in the btcc

Personally I think SCV8's was just a bad idea from the outset. The manufacturers get to put aerodynamically similar shells over a standard chassis/engine, so the only way they're going to win is by digging deep in their pockets to buy the best driver. The spectators know they're all the same basic car so who's going to care which shape the winning one happens to be because it has no connection to the cars on the road. Might as well just launch yet another one make series.

It is in an outside yard behind a workshop in Silverstone, collecting rust, without and engine and gearbox. All the hype and statements they made about the series was just pure 'spin'. Last edited by Touringfan; 27 Feb 2005 at 22:25. |

Welcome to 10-tenths Touringfan Nice bit of info, hope you enjoy the chat and meet some interesting people.
PS Don't suppose you know what the car driving round Silverstone is in my Avatar?.... er, except being the Batmobile that is! Last edited by dtype38; 27 Feb 2005 at 22:29. |

I remember it testing with the 406 body on the Silverstone International circuit. However as a regular at Silverstone I have not seen the SCV8 lying around. Is that just a shell, chassis or complete car? Is it the Jaguar or the 406? |

SCV8 was goind to be just like V8Star in Germany. V8Star was never very popular and collapsed just after couple of seasons... Maybe SCV8 organisers should see that coming...

Why am I not surprised there was unpaid bills?!
This series was a bad idea from the start and I am glad that it has died before it started. |

As stated elsewhere the BTCC is not exactly the series it was 10 years ago. Scv8 was a good idea and could of been realy good. The real problem is too many series chasing too little sponsorship and TV coverage. sagaris |

Hmmm... I wonder if A1GP will do any better. The launch I saw at Autosport had even less fanfares than ScV8 did a year or two before...
