'GT Racer' on TV
Think this might be the programme Roger Wills mentioned earlier in the year. Our tv book describes it as a series following classic car races.
On SKY Channel 111 at 7.00pm or channel 159 at 8.00pm (GMT) |

Thanks for the reminder. Is this a series or one off? Either way it's an excellent program.
Edited, just answered my own question, it's a series and next week is Silverstone. |

It's also shown on freeview,7pm on Dave. Strange how they tend to mainly focus on V8s,mind you, there is quite a choice of them.Good to see the Pearson TR4 in front of some of the Corvettes.

quite an insular production I thought, hardly reflective of the fraternity
well filmed and edited, crap music. |

I was in the race in the yellow Elite. There were a few shots of the car. The Delta truck had the most exposure in the background as the drivers were having their interview. It was our driver of the other car we ran in the race that caused the red flag. It was not a heart attack he got dehyrated and was in a lot of pain. I was attending to him along with the fantastic medical team at the circuit we got him in the ambulance just as the Elite came in for my stint. My co driver shouting something about no brakes, i needed to get out on track and release a lot of tension and worry i had had and just got in the car and had a great race lapping 7 secs quicker than i had in pratice.I was right behind the car leading our class when the red flag came out . Its a difficult track to learn but i recomend going if you get the chance. The Elite was fantastic to drive there but looking at the film i would love to have a go in the Stingray the sound of the engine reminded me Steve McQueens Mustang in the film Bullet. Perhaps if i remind Mr Cooke that he got his first licence signatures in one of our Delta's he might like to like te return the complement.

Shame we had to have the music drowning out the sound of the cars - when will film makers realise that they're ruining one of the best bits! Is this series just about the Masters? Or will some other races get a mention? At least the coverage knocked the Goodwood T.V. hour into a cocked hat even if it was just from one race series perspective. Will watch, wait and see.

Spa 2002? ye gods how long were the film crew "on location?" the most memorable film crew I have seen at Spa was a German one doing a soft core porn shoot at the 2005 6 Hour meeting in the top paddock! I offered our car and pits but they seemed well catered by one of those pesky V8 teams!

She agreed but her very Russian mother (who was clearly her manager) stepped in and banned it!

Watched about 10 minutes of it then got rather fed up of the typical old boys club stuff and yuppies playing in cars they own rather than love I'm afraid.
Interesting to see that the Vette is now for sale The young lad in teh 11 was cool though. |

Hey surely its just great to see these old cars out and on TV as well whether driven/owned by 'yuppies' (which I am sure they are not) or otherwise. I thought the program was very watchable warts and all and at least someone is bothering to put on something like this, keep it up I say.

Perhaps the owner was a bit traumatised by being beaten by a TR4? Lets hope he was not one of the many who thought that a V8 means instant wins. Last edited by John Turner; 19 Jan 2008 at 09:36. |

They can be a beast to drive and mega power does'nt neccessarily make them a winner, you have to go very very softly on the loud pedal at times or it ends in disaster.

Don't forget clever editing can portray almost anything! A lot of material would have been discarded. The producer is trying to appeal to the majority of his audiance base rather than car racers/anoraks. So, "You can't please all of the people all of the time" syndrome.
