Well said Mark. It has fascinated me that everyone has just bagged this kid without ever seeing what was in his contract or hearing his side of the story. He is not the first driver to leave a team prematurely and won't be the last. What is impressive has been his response. Quick on his SuperTourer debut, and devastatingly fast on his Tekno debut. May be with his free spirit released, he will now deliver an unstoppable campaign - may be even on both sides of the Tasman. Stranger things have happened and he does look on scinillating form. Very much hope his presence at Ruapuna puts some extra bums on seats for you Mark. The potential for a ripper of a race is probably bigger than it was in Adelaide. Him, Murphy, McLaughlin. Should be good. Great idea for the free schools day too. Be interesting to hear what the response has been to that. |

Spot on. Contracts are written by people who may need to exit them someday and anyone who thinks differently is living in dreamland. He had the guts to do what he wanted to do and good on him for doing it and taking that risk.

He's back? I didn't know he left.
Good for him that he won the first race. Hopefully it bodes well for the season that we'll see some different race winners this year, than the usual crowd from last year. |

I imagine he wanted to go off and race in NZ and do some drifting and other things to have a bit of fun. Seems the Webbs told him he was more than welcome to do that while racing in V8SC, so why wouldn't he sign up?
It's a smart move by them. I believe him when he says he wasn't planning to switch and just wanted a break. I do think the Erebus deal may have added to some of that as well, but I believe him. In any case it doesn't matter. He's out there racing, with 2 poles and 1 race win to his name. Even if he doesn't win another race all year he's done better than 2012. |

Yep, despite all the legalities, morals, ethics etc with regards to how he got there it is hard to argue that from Shane's point of view it wasnt the best move for him.
I know which car i would have rather been in at the weekend.... the one that was on fire rather than the one that caught fire ! Not a fan of how it all went down but was happy to see the smile back on the young fella's face. All he can do now is keep driving like that ! |

Shane, Murph, and the rest of the drivers are probably going to get writers cramp with several hundred posters to sign on Saturday, but they are up for. By the way, I asked 'Cheese' were the infamous "signed V8SC bonnet" was as I thought SVG might like to raffle it for a good cause, however, it turns out that Ross never gave it to him, so maybe Ross might like to donate it to a good cause? |

Its great isn't it? i dont think i have ever seen him with so much gusto as this year.
This whole contract thing and so-called impending injunction was just a knee jerk reaction from erebus. He is racing better than ever before, and to have him over here racing in the ST's (and taking it seriously) is a credit to him and both series. I just hope some of the people who have slated him over this pull their collective heads in a bit and just be happy that someone is adding so much spice to the supercar category. I mean the drifting after race2, what a crowd pleaser Go Shane and Tekno! |

He's got to be happier with the initial results from his "comeback" than the Ross is with the initial results from the "merger"... Although to be fair they only had "3 months" to get things together....
I don't think the whole truth will ever out, but I don't think either side has been entirely up front and candid. |

Give Erebus/SBR some time I am sure they return to their old pace.

If Tekno are clever they'll bring out some 'Comeback Tour' TShirts, and maybe make John Farnham the teams ambassador.

But she's looking like a Craig Gore in that photo doing the rounds via the Speed Channel Aust website as she watch's SVG get interviewed after Sundays race. Craig was known to be a bit of a bully and hot head when he ran his team, and from what I was told, sacked someone on the spot at a track after something went wrong. Thou we haven't seen this yet, I wonder how long before we start to see some "team restructures" happening and job ad's floating around. She has a dream, and good on her for doing it, but how long is it going to be, and with SVG on the weekend it could be a short time, before we see the blood pressure rise......... |

However like Gore, I wonder whether there's a confusion between their ability to run a competitive race team... Betty's biggest hurdle could be Betty's need to be involved with the day to day running of the team. |

Great to see the Gis back and racing, As a SBR follower for years, since JB , I was suprised at first, then I remebered Jason, went off as well, before his contract finished, then Ambrose, Ross and Jimmy did wonderful things, but three drivers all leave before contracts due, sign here we are racing Fords, sorry we are selling out , if I was in that position, I would have to think again, .
Glad to shane back racing although in a Commy, but he has showed his skills and a pity Stones didnt get there cars together to show how well the GIs can drive. FOr me, although a Fordie, glad to see him racing, same with Johno Webb, ford missed the boat on this team. |

I don't think it's a matter of missing the boat (going by previous form) i don't reckon they wanted to catch it.

But hey, perhaps it's just a coincidence that her seat is set up in the pin point PERFECT position for someone wanting to eyeball SVG... |
