I only manage to get down there once a year in July. I've seen sudden blinding fog, had several 12hour rain storm drubbings, a couple of blistering "surface of Mars" type hot sunnys, and one where all of the above happened in one day. Oh and a hail storm.

I haven't seen snow in July down there yet, so I suggest you pack an air conditioner, snow chains, several buckets and brollies. Oh and a good quality nose clip in case you get caught short and have to use the thunderboxes.

For all that, I do genuinely love the place and going down there is always one of the highlights of my year

Can anyone confirm when gates open tomorrow?

The Wiscombe website says 10am, but I'm sure that must be wrong? Looking at the programmes for 2000-2003 when I last went, practice started at 8:45am. Cheers for any advice!

I turned up yeaterday bang on ten and cars were already running. (bit of a washout btw)... some beautiful cars there though. I took the old man for a look after he bought home a leaflet about Wiscombe. The grounds are absoloutely beautiful! Although I'm more into my circuit racing, I caught a hillclimb when I was working in Geurnsey in '03 and thought that some of the machinery was very impressive. Glad we went, even if it was a litle soggy.
