Blackpool street circuit

Blackpool has been trying to re-invent itself as a tourist destination due to flopping sales and low visitor numbers. I thought a good way to attract some intrest to the city would be to host a street race. This is the circuit that I came up with. It's quite long and would be suitable for most types of motorsport. There are 3 main overtaking oppertunities-T1, T5 & T7. Some of the streets would need to be widened but I think that this would be a great way of attracting more visitors and would create some much-needed revenue. So......what do you think?

Looks quite good, but I think you could loose a few sections, such as the section from Ribbie Street to Coronation Street, or perhaps just cut straight from reads avenue to Chapel Road somehow?

nice idea, but not a hope in hell. The road surface is awful and you'd never get the locals to agree. I'd like to see that in GTR or rFactor tho...

I have seen motorsport in Blackpool. There was a sprint on the sea front like the one in Brighton, around the mid 80s.Together with powerboat racing in the sea,and air racing in the sky above -quite a weekend!

Agreed there may be some problems with the tramlines and the roads would need resurfacing but I do feel that as a concept to provide a great weekend of entertainment and attract tourists it would be great. If champcars ever did decide to come back to the UK I also think that this would be a great circuit for them, doing what they do best-taking racing to the people rather than racing on a closed circuit where few members of the public would be aware of their presence.

I would make thae argument that relatively few members of the public bother to make themselves aware. A series can advertise, but the people have to be willing to pay attention to it. Frankly, for road racing, Road America, or Brands Hatch in the UK, would be much better venues.
