RF90 91 or 92

New to formula ford.Looking at buying an RF91 which is the only ff car I've driven. Can anyone give me any idea of what the main differences are between the above cars. The 90 and 92 seem to be alot more popular based on race results.I rarely see RF91s.Are they as good? Any help appreciated.

RF90 and RF91s are all but the same, with really only bodywork changes, but the complete RF91 body will fit the RF90 and vice versa.

The RF92 is a monoshock car, that is one damper at the front for both wheels, distinguished generally by the slightly higher front pushrods and blister in the bodywork.

spot on John. most 90s and 91s have a mixture of different bodywork.

If your new go for a 90 or 91 - 92 is hard to setup and a bit on-edge handling wise.

I've driven all 3, and would plump for the 90, however there isn't much difference between a 90/91

I drove a 92 last weekend and it was a real pain, however once my setup wizard started to get ontop of the setup, the car actually started to drive really nice

hats off to Jason Minshaw

Buy a 90 or 91 car. I used a 92 for two years and its a bit harder to drive than a 91, I just had at Rf91 for the wht and it was lot nicer to drive and easier to set up.

The main problem I had with rf92 was finding front roll bar springs for it. and lots of people cant get there head around how u set a mono shock car up

You've got to get in a '92 Swift as well. They certainly don't cater for the..... erm.... shall we say, broader chap than the VD's do.

I don't know how a mono shock works properly, never mind setting one up!!!!!!!

Just out of interest, how often do RF90s come on the market, and what sort of money are they fetching?

I would say a good one without engine would set you back around the £6500 to £7000 mark.

I know of a very good one for sale as a roller. And the guy selling it would sort you out a good engine too. As it's what he does.

hi Chris. Yes, will be racing, but, Colin, who preps my car, is involved a lot with the 2-litre URS cars, so I may race there instead. Makes sense logistically, and the car should be fun to drive. Whether it's URS of FF1600 though, am looking forward to the new season.

Mark,

Infiniti have a really nice FF2000 for sale. I even think it has a brand new engine and the bodywork is new, in white I think?

Give Brian a call on - (01928) 577910
