After the sprint we all though that this was a God-send for Jimmie T, and he would lead the championship by a mile.
Do you think we jinxed him? |

Priaulx did indeed spin round coming out of the chicane, right in front of me and I totally myself, he was aiming for the opposition you see, I was standing near the Vauxhall hospiltality tent. He was lucky to keep it off the barriers though.
O'Neill's engine let go going into Clervaux, spilling oil on the track which saw the safety car out for several laps, in the cloud of smoke some of the VLR Pugs went off as well as a few proddie runners. One of the Barwell's spun later at Clervaux, and I'm sure I saw some flames, can anyone confirm that? And thanks to the folks at Team B&Q for my prize! According to autosport there were three fires:
Paul O'Neill and Tom Chilton from hitting the kerbs, while Tim harvey set the grass on fire |

Absolutely great drive from him, later on in the sprint he was just overtaking other Tourers on pure speed alone along the straights

I have to say I was disappointed by the behaviour of the production cars after Paul O'Neill dropped oil on the first corner. The yellow flags and oil flags were flying, but Jim Edwards and Spencer Marsh amongst others, still battled into that corner, resulting in tyres flying everywhere and a couple of very bent Honda Accords.
Plus the safety car should have been dispatched after Tom Chilton blew up. |

having been stood at the first corner during the sprint race, and having to duck from flying gravel at least 8 times (exchanging weary looks with the marshals each time..) to protect my camera, i'd say it was one of the best races of the year. the chicane was totally covered in oil, it was unbelievable they decided to continue the race.
fantastic for colin turkington for finally getting a podium despite driving like a god for the past x meetings. strangely, he claimed he was being cautious, although the back end of his mg looked quite exciting going into the aforementioned chicane. ps wasn't only the proddy boys who acted like loons around the time of the oile flags. but they were definitely all in need of a new set of specs. |

Cato you are missed
Any else notice that whilst Cato was with B&Q the team got better and better, going as far as the double podium at Mondello.
Then he leaves and the team falls over. At Croft Edwards was miles off the pace on the time sheets and Breese (understandably) likewise, before his engine let go. I'm counting the days to Cato's return! Last edited by racing4real; 15 Jul 2002 at 16:10. |

Quite unusual for the Accords to be not very quick this time. They were dominant last year, Lemmer leading for ages in the now Jim Jr car and Jim Jr winning of course in the car now raced by Hyla Breese.

So the team has one slightly less succesful meeting than usual and it's about to collapse ?! I guess Egg must be in dire trouble then! I think, after last season, that the only thing that we can take from your disappointment at our result is that you are impressed at our development. Thanks for the complement and we guarantee to try our best to be back to our usual pace at Snetterton... |

Proton's drivers scored points in both races, I'd say a 2nd in the first wasn't bad going, and in the manufacturers points they scored more than Honda and nearly as much as Vauxhall, though MG scored the most.

Racing4real you seem to be a bit anti-Breese, he has only just joined the team yet you seem unwilling to sit back and see how he does before voicing your opinions on him?
I never watched him in Lotus last year but have been to his web site and he seems to have a good track record. Maybe you should wait to see how he does for the rest of the season? |
