Yet again 1 rule for some and 1 rule for the rest of us. As a Steward and Clerk of the Course I have been told on many occasions that the MSA frown upon anybody allowing competitors to do doughnuts. I personnaly think the crowd like it but I always give anybody doing them a telling off and I mention it in my drivers briefing.

Lewis did a doughnut ? I thought that he'd just lost the back end again.

You can see their point on a 'normal' race day, when doughnuts will delay the start of the next race, and they are usually packed in to keep the costs down. However, for something like the BGP, and perhaps BTCC, with the huge number of spectators, and the less busy schedule, and TV, and where costs are not such an issue, then doughnuts could be accommodated!

I can imagine Hamilton recieving a punishment of some sort for this. As far as I'm aware it is contrary to the rules.

Max and the FIA may hit McLaren & Hamilton with another $100,000,000.00 fine.
You know, something quite reasonable. |

He'd only have to say that the handling of his car is so unpredictable that it did it all by itself, and he'd get away with it.......right up until it was found out that his team had told him to do it even though he thought that he shouldn't.

I was at Stowe and thought it was a nice gesture to the fans.

It was a nice gesture...confused the marshals though as they thought he was pulling off, but then he started the doughnuts...fortunately they hadn't got too far out to him. He did some more at club too, which was good.

Of course, the BTCC also features great FWD cars like the 320si and 120d
Donuts in club meetings are a waste of time, but in "pro" series donuts should be permitted - and if one wins the race, encouraged. |

The fact remains that doughnuts are off-limits for F1 drivers, which is perhaps the reason JPM moved on.

The syncronised doughnuts by the pick-ups at Rockingham at the end of the season are great! Hope Lewis doesn't get fined for doing what the fans want.
