Carbon/Carbon Racing clutch
Hi for part of one of my uni assingment i have to spec a clutch. Now i know how to calculate this and have sourced a suitable clutch (AP carbon/carbon 140 Dia) this fits my brief perfectly as the flywheel Dia is 150mm. I have a torque figure, material, number of plates and co-efficent of friction. Therfore i need to calculate the clamping force... however i cant do this until i calculate the mean radius of my clutch friction plate. I know the external Dia, but cant find any info an the internal Dia anywhere?
Does anybody know this figure, or can help me in anyway? Cheers. |

Your flywheel is 150mm overall? A 140mm AP carbon clutch is 166mm in diameter overall - http://www.apracing.com/drawings/cp7142cd.pdf
That shows the inner diameter of the clamping area as 97mm. therefore a 115mm triple plate clutch might be more useful, with the inner diameter being 85mm - http://www.apracing.com/drawings/cp8153cd.pdf Hope that helps a bit. |
