Wurz on his way out?
http://www.grandprix.com/ns/ns12388.html
Seems that since Wurz can't fit in the new McLaren at all, it is possible he may use this as a get-out clause to go and race for Jordan. Last edited by cos; 20 Jan 2004 at 14:35. |

doh!
Ron has never been limiting to Alex, as we saw when he was rumoured for a Jag seat. Thus it would be totally unnecessary to appeal to such a clause. IMO it's sufficient to ask Ron friendly. |

If Wurz doesn't fit in the car there wouldn't be much point in McLaren keeping him on - if he can find a race drive (doubtful) I would expect McLaren would be only too willing to let him go (otherwise they're paying for him to do not a lot this year).

If the Jordan has been designed to accomodate 5'4 Nick Heidfeld, what good would it be to 6'3 Alex Wurz? McLaren will be able to adjust the car for Alex to fit - he's not much taller than Coulthard - and keep him on for at least one more year.

If he is let go and can't get a race seat, he would be a great asset to one of the Friday testing teams, he meets the criteria, no?

Alex Wurz has too much experience for the friday testing
which is a shame as he was a good racer (when he started in F1) |

I thought the Friday rule was along the lines of "hasn't competed in 6 GP's in the last 2 years"? If that's the case then Wurz can test on a Friday no problem....
(I could be wrong here of course - it has been known) Note to self: Check spelling before submitting post. Last edited by BertMk2; 20 Jan 2004 at 15:44. |

That is indeed the Friday rule Bert. Funny how it makes Wurz, Badoer and Gene eligable, but not the guys who the smaller teams want to be using?

Sorry - I correct myself. I thought it was any GP in 2 years! It's a daft rule, whatever!

WURZ finally back out on testing with Mclaren in Valencia.
http://www.itv-f1.com/news/news_story/19497 Anyone has any source to that? is it the MP-19 or he is still driving the old car?? Last edited by f1truestory; 20 Jan 2004 at 23:00. |

I thought that I read it that he was shoehorned into the new car, but can't remember where I saw that, so I may be wrong...

Seems as though that McLaren is a bit of a tight squeeze...
It got me thinking, if the MP4-20 (sounds wierd aye?) is anything like the 19, JPM might want to go on a bit of a diet if he wants to laterally fit into the car. |
