The Toyotas of 1994 were pretty rank. So was old Patrick Watts' mazda of 1993. It was just so unreliable!!!!

I dont think the Toyotas of 1994 were too bad, tcn. I certainly think the Mazda's and Nissan's were wores than them in '94.

Both of mine are from 96 - the semi-private Nissan Primeras are the worst cars that have appeared in the 90s, while I feel John Bintcliffe under-acheived in the Audi - considering Biela was tha championship.

I almost forgot Mark Lemmer in his privateer Vectra in 98 who appeared to have disconnected his brain when driving and developed the overtaking move of punting people of the track..a bone head with lots of money makes a useless driver. RIP

Mark Lemmer is a decent driver, as he proved last year in Class B, but it is tue he does have brain-fade occasionaly. However, in 1998 he did have the toothless '96 Vectra-not the best of cars to compete against Matt Neal, Tommy Rustad and Robb Gravett in.

Worst car/driver
Worst driver was Eugene O'Brien. What a ******, who was out of his depth (witness Thruxton 1994), even with some of those muppets in the BTCC with more money than talent!
Worst car, anything with a Vauxhall badge. Reminds me too much of Vivas and Poms with no taste in cars (Tigra, Coarsa(!) etal) |

You all seem to forget Russell Spence in 1999 in that Renault Laguna.
The only best bit of driving he did was vault the Laguna over the Oulton fence! |

Ok how about Colin Blair in his Nissan Primera 1n 2000,same spec as Neal's but did ****, especially compared to Mark Blair (I know the two aren't related) he was sh*t hot in that private Vectra in 1998, god knows why he didn't get an opportunity to continue beyond that season.

John Bintcliffe 1996
Considering this was his first year in the BTCC and his team mate had been racing Audi Quattros for many years before I'd say John done very well. There was a race at Oulton Park that year when Frank Biela was 2nd and John Bintcliffe was 3rd. John had been under a major attack from Alain Menu for most of the race. Jo Winkelhock had a go at getting past at Knickerbrook and it all went wrong for him. In my view John has been a very sucessfull racing driver winning back to back championships in Clios (1994) then Fiestas (1995). His arrival in the Audi team for 1996 suprised a lot of people but not myself, I knew he would do well there.

1992 - Robb Gravett and the Pug 405.
1993 - Harry Nuttall Ecurie Ecosse Vauxhall 1994 - Eric Van De Poole and the Nissan 1995 - Derek Warwick and the Alfa 1996 - Owen McAuley, Nissan Primera 1997 - Patrick Watts, Peugeot 406 1998 - John Bintcliffe, Audi A4 These are my personal opinions, but believe that anyone who can race a Touring Car, and score any points, is a superb driver. I think the above were just unlucky. |
