There were opportunities to exit TW after the TWR empire collapsed. Sir Tim Bailey was at the forefront of it, despite his cancer, and he was incredibly keen.

Sadly, Ross McKenzie and Holden put an end to anyone's chances, under extreme pressure.

The only winner from this was Belmont .... the D'Alberto's .....everyone else was high and dry

And why should teams openly have access to these (usually confidential) documents?

Like I say when I'm in the dunny..."Is nothing sacred?"

Mitsubishi did too (in England).

And why wouldn't Holden have let him back in, his 'influence' since coming back hasn't really hurt Holden's fortunes with two back-to-back championship wins.

Open examination of any engine in any car by any team... allegedly... for some reason WP dont seem to want other people looking inside their powerplants...

Something to hide? Or protecting IP... or indeed the kazillions their customers are paying to get that power under the bonnet?

Allegedly

not too smart ?

Surely they didnt select WP alone to start with? Prudent decision making would have Fords biggest engine provider at the same time.

Who would do the inspection?

What process is in place to protect the IP ?

No doubt when the matter returns to court the decision makers will have their day ...

Great result then. Why should a company have to give up its secrets because others are too lazy to do their own development.

Wholeheartedly agree.

Industrial advantage is sometimes very hard to come by

Oh I forgot, its part of the V8 'socialism' that has destroyed the racing here.

From what I have herd, under the supply agreement you would have with WP is that you aren't allowed to measure, look or doing anything to the motors, other than install and remove them from the car. Everything is handled by WP engine department. I'd say this just protects there supply contracts with the teams.

I also can't get over the fact that "Justice Judd" proceeded over the case. Is it just coincidence that the Justice shares a name with a famous engine manufacture.

Fair enough. As long as the engines are legal I don't see the problem with holding their cards close.

It'd be interesting to know exactly where the interest in taking a peek has come from?
1) A concerned WP customer seeking to verify equality?
2) A competing Holden team?
3) A competing Ford team?
4) VESA Technical team?

I too agree that until common control engines are introduced, a teams IP deserves to be protected. The issue here appears to be that how will WP know that thier IP will not be leaked by the technical inspection crew.

I'm also lead to believe (directly from a very prominent engine builder) that the spirit of the current rules meant that engine builders are able to inspect each others engines. I personally find this not very satisfactory, and that only an independent VESA tech committee should have access.

Maybe what WP are arguing is that inspection by VESA should be limited to regulated components and measurements, and NOTHING ELSE.

Hate to admit it but on this one I agree with Walkinshaw. Why let others get an advantage out of your hard work.

Last time I checked Walkinshaw does not own a level one franchise, therefore I wonder how he can challenge a Supercar rule change. I could see if Skaife Motorsport or BJR, HSVDT challenged it but WP is only contracted to supply engines to these teams and they (the teams) are obligated to follow the rules laid out by the board.

Regardless the Series needs to get the costs down, and quickly or all stakeholders will suffer.
