Mercedes. The car is vastly improved and it will be interesting to see what further improvements they make, after the summer break.

Sometimes when a team starts badly and then improves, I feel TOGP is a bit like praising them for being rubbish at the beginning. But Merc were only bad by their own high standards and they are making great progress, and somehow managing to get results that exceed the car performance. So Merc get my vote.

Red Bull for me - everyone was gambling through this race - but taking the aggressive approach with Max really paid off for them in moving him from P10 to P1. Honorable mention to MB though, they're getting closer and closer.

I am really impressed by a solid delivery by RBR. They do have a very good car, and one of the best drivers, but they also seems to use what they've got very, very well.
Many others did quite well. I think Aston was entertaining to see, for example. If they only managed to get some qualifying results they would getting some serious points. McLaren was a bit odd. They did go to the hard tyre, which was not very good, but Norris situation made it work, strangely. I do wonder if they should not have done something different with DR, though. Also, that penalty they could have lived without. As a McLaren man myself, I could do with less of these close calls when it comes to Alpine. Alpine is an interesting case, as I almost think they rival Ferrari with odd decisions sometimes. When it comes to Mercedes, who got my vote, I don't think they are back, and I don't think they will challenge for wins in the later part of the season, with hotter environments once again dominating. But, I expect them to be up there, and get maximum points when they are available. I now think they will finish above Ferrari. They have not solved their issues, but they way they work as a team, and the way both Lewis and George always gives credit to the team in interviews. They are the team of the year for me, for improving, and RBR for riding the wave. Mercedes gets my vote. |

Mercedes have had a few votes this year (possibly from me among them) for getting two cars the finish in reasonably good positions, but this race, I can say they excelled. The car's still not quite there on pace, but they made the most of strategy (and the strategic oddities of others) to get their 2-3.

much has been said about their strategy choices and while i dont understand their reasonings i do find they add a lot of interest to the proceedings....so a somewhat cynical vote for Ferrari. |
