Lap Records

Here we are at the end of September and is it just me or does the championship season seem to have ended far quicker this year?
Time seems to have gone by so quickly yet the drivers seem to be slower!
In F.Renault, the Clio cup and Senior Zetec, only one lap record has fallen - to Westley at Donington last week in the second FF race. Few have gone in F3 too.
Wierd..

Good point is that Andrew. Not many at all have gone at all and the machinery you would of thought faster? One that has been broken at Club level is the long standing Castle Combe FF lap record, now held by Matt Rivett. There must be a few at Club level that have gone - surely?

A few at Club level at Mallory...

Steven Hunter (F/MG Challenge)
Graham Scott (Statos Corse/AutoItalia)
Ray Harper (Mallock/Classic Clubmans)
Jonathan Cook (Radical Biduro)
Robb Addison Sr (CRX/Super Coupe) - twice!
Steve Allen (Dallara F398/ARP F3)
Chris du Boulay (Caterham Academy)
Luke Kidsley (Jedi/Mono 1200)
Amnon Needham (Van Diemen RF82/Mono 1600)
Adrian Churchill (Vectra/Super Coupe)
John Higgins (Legends) - on the oval
Jonathan Hoggarth (VSR6)
Barry Lee (VSR8)
Jonathan Wheeler (B/Phoenix MG)

At Combe
Jim Blockley (Ralt/Mono 2000)

Those lists aren't exhaustive by any means. Does anyone know the oldest lap record in the country for a championship that is currently contested and runs at that circuit (ie COULD be broken)?

Oldest off the top of my head at Mallory (I may be wrong!) Jamie Spence's FF1600 mark, set in 1992.

One of the Monoposto lap records fell at Snetterton last weekend. Can't remember who by though. The oldest (or at least a contender for) is Cadwell Park. If I remember it was set in 1982 by an F3 driver. Can't remember his name though...

That very car that Mansilla drove, the blue & yellow WSR Ralt was also the first F3 car that Senna raced, at the non-championship TV meeting at Thruxton in November '82. He won of course on his F3 debut.

The Mono record at Snett went to Frazer Corbyn, an average speed of over 100mph
A 1min 9 sec ish i think.

The mono 1600 record at Mallory is not a true representation. The rules this year allowed the introduction of FF2000 cars, so it was no suprise the 1600 kent record fell.
None of the circuits have been resurfaced this year. If one was im sure you would see a few new records.

As fo Jamie Spence Mallory record....well i cant see that ever beaten.....it must of been a monster lap

mattray has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
I think Snett has been resurfaced at the second corner or at least a new bit on the exit, its made it faster aparently. Not raced there since though so I cant confirm it.
