Plenty still lying around in Garage's waiting for somewhere to race. (25 plus I'm told) Rusty French brought out some Winston Cup West cars that have never raced here, while the only ones running regularly are cars from Marshall Brewers corporate ride days at the Thunderdome.
Bob Jane told me recently that all is full speed ahead to reopen the dome later this year although the old NASCARs will be relegated to support status behind a new one-make series for Monaros (Pontiac GTO). Bob's got a heap of them being race prepared as we speak.

My mail is the Monaro (GTO) project never went ahead.

There were 4 of the Monaros on track today at the dome, more in the workshop being built and others still in stock form parked around Calder. Bob assures me that the series is all systems go.
But when? Who knows, problem with Bob is he has so many projects on the go at once that often they just seem to wither and die as he jumps on his latest project, certainly there's lots of work happening at Calder in the pit area but for what purpose I don't know.

The big rumour is that Drag Racing is starting up again.

Anyone know the year that Nascar photo was taken at Surfers.

Calder are having a big media launch on Tuesday Sept 27, where a number of new major projects will be announced. One of them announced already is the DBD meeting on Oct 1-2 featuring Drags, Burnouts and Drifting. There's some very big corporate players involved including Seriously TEN.
I'd expect ANDRA sanctioned Drags back pretty soon and there'll be something at the Dome possibly as soon as late Jan next year. I'm told they're working on some International circuit stuff which if it happens will cause heart failure at both CAMS and the FIA.

It would be during the early years before the V8 Supercars supported the Champ Cars... 1990-92

Inpitlane it sounds like Bob Jane's hot air is running overtime. Yes wondered what happened to Rusty French's Monte Carlo. I heard from another source that when they had the V8Stockcar series, there were probably ony 12 cars left in the country. It is a pity they did not keep more of the cars as they could have had a reasonable roadracing series.
Cavvy agree with you , the Monaro series was dead in the water before it started. He has so many projects on the go some wither and die before the next one is started
That is Bob Jane's major problem...does not concentrate on one project and bring it to complation.

cavvy , there was supposed to be 70 Chassis floating around. After some investigating , they found there wasn't enough to keep the V8Stockars going. I hope you are right and I am wrong. I talked to another well known ex-Aussie NASCAR participant(besides yourself) , who said he has two cars in the garage.
