Asian Le Mans series?
Hey guys,
Anyone think there's any chance of this series becoming an Asia/Pacific Le Mans series with a round in Australia at some stage? |

Future for Asian series doesn't look good when even the the Shangai round failed to materialize. There should be potential though.

I would call it the PLMC (Pacific Le Mans Challenge) and have it as an off season Winter series.
Have a 100km race at Fuji and one at Shanghai on the same bill as A1GP, Hook up with V8 Supercars for a 2hr 45min race at Bathurst and 100 minute sprint at Adelaide. Have 2 more 2hr45min races; one at Hampton Downs with New Zealand V8s as support and another supporting A1GP at Sepang. |

Might have more luck with the LMES, given their interest in expanding into China and Brazil.
Where would you want to run it, Eastern Creek? Dunno if Adelaide would roll out the track for two races a year.. |

They did for the ALMS, didn't they?
Having LMPs at Bathurst would be incredible, but probably stupidly unsafe as well... |

Have a feeling there will be some of the top teams from the LMS and ALMS brought over to get the show started to show the fans what it could be. Could be a good chance for Corvette to show off their cars a final few times to a new audience. Question is, the fly-away rounds for the LMS didn't work so well and now they want a further flight for no points for cars that may be needed to make a field of more then a dozen? Don't think this really has a great chance to work as anything other than a side show. Maybe for some gentleman teams or collectors (if older cars are allowed to fill out the race) with deep pockets, but who is willing to risk that much now?

The crucial thing to get the idea work are LM-Wildcards for the series winners. And please no older cars to fill the grid. That didn´t work in JLMC and spoiled the series indeed.
A future race in Australia would be a good perspective too plus Korea to engage the tire manufacturers there. |

It's being said here in Portugal that the Asian LMS was put asleep for at least one year because of Audi's withdraw and the probable reduction on Peugeot's endurance program.
Here's the translation |

How many false starts do they need before they realise trying to build an Asian Le Mans Series from scratch will not work?
Have a few open formula sportscar races for the first few years to warm the area up. |

Hmm, I think that without the current economic situation that it has a great chance of happening! And I do not see the ACO actually 'putting it to sleep for a year' until the point of no return (time wise) so to speak.
