Do drivers still change gears
i was wondering whether the cars still require drivers to flick the paddles to change up or down, ie are they fully automatic or still semi automatic. Commentators say the are fully automatic, but it looks like they are still changing gears.

They still have the option to use paddles and make the changes themselves..My understanding is that at each race track the gear changes are mapped, data downloaded, and the cars programmed to make the gear change at the optimum moment..Please correct me if I am wrong someone..
