Online resources

I am trying to find some online resources to assist me in my studies. I am going for a bachelors degree in motorsports engineering technology, and want to try and get a bit of a head start on my upper division courses. Anything on basic engine design, through fabrication and aero will be helpful.

Sadly, I think you should leave Google alone, and visit your local (uni?) library. Anything about engines, from books about A-series engines (quite a lot on them!) all the way through to A.G. Bell's book on 2 and 4 stroke tuning... And don't miss Carrol Smith's books along the way, or Allan Staniforths either.

If you want knowledge, then books are the way forwards. If you want pub anecdotes then Google is your friend.

Well, as I am in the USA, and in a fairly rural area, the prospects at my local library are limited. That was why I was asking about online resources. I thought perhaps a school in the UK might have something up for some of their courses.
Yes, books are a definite. At 46, I am old school enough to actually know how to read one.

Allan Staniforth has books on many subjects I think - Competition Car Suspension: Design, Construction, Tuning seems pretty good.

Simon McBeath also has a load of book which may not be so detailed but are good general books.

Bells book on engine tuning was very good, and mostly above my head (and I rebuild my own engines)

Blimey, talking about books. Was looking up Simon McBeath books on Amazon, and the Competition Car Downforce book which I have a copy of is worth £80-£130 second hand!!

Think its now the most expensive book I have!

It's now £137 for a new copy - someone has to be 'avin' a larf.

Since McBeath's successor book, Comp.Car.Aerodynamics, is only £25 from Haynes, discounted on eBay for £17.50, I know which would be getting my money.

All good stuff, A Graham Bell is very good and easy to read, practical as well.
Don't discount the concepts in some really old stuff, like Ricardo, examples may be dated but the concepts are the key

Also get a copy of Bosch Automotive Handbook, an incredible book

Oh this is all brilliant, though the book prices are out of my range at the moment. The online resources are very good, thank you. If more are found, please let me know, my new found mates!
