Barrie should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
ERC introduce D Finals.

Good move this, with the large entries especially in Div 1, there was alot of big name drivers missing out on finals in the last few years on a regular basis this is certainly a good way of hopefully keeping them interested.

So is that the top 21 drivers through to finals? great news - still a shame that all drivers don`t get a final though - surely with a two day meeting format there would be time? And by the finals, cars should race rather than play follow the leader, incase an overtaking move costs them time compared to other heats.

Nope, the top 20 drivers. The first 2 of the D are qualified for the C. The rest will be as before and only the first 16 get ERC points.

This should be interesting, a losers final and the first 2 cars get into point scoring positions.

Forgot to mention: 5 qualifiers for the A, 5 for the B, 4 for the C and 6 for the D. Will give another 4 drivers one more chance to score ERC points – but make things also more difficult for the 15th and the 16th after qualifying…

I’m not certain if i should like it. One day finals for all who scored 2 times during the qualifying heats…?

This is good news.

It might also be influenced by the fact that, since there are only 3 categories this year, there would have only been 9 finals. This way we get to keep 12, which is better for the fans.

I wonder whether they should have extended to E finals and had more point scoring positions. Especially if the entries are as high as we anticipate they could be this year.

I think it deludes the value of the finals. Especially with these big grids they now have, just reaching the finals was an achievement.
Only having a D-final and not an E, F, or G final seems completely random to me.

On the other hand it's extra value for the specators and drivers so it can't be bad.

A good move I think - it provides better value for money for competitors, sponsors and spectators. It also gives drivers a better chance to battle back when things go badly wrong in the heats - something that always adds to the spectacle in whatever level you're racing.
