360MRC, next time (2011) - Discussion re Car Eligibility etc
How quiet is 95db and how is it measured?
I could maybe trail the old Scimitar over next year and do it with my son. It could be a good bonding exercise - I dont think! Would a rebuilt Essex last 6 hrs? What does that capri run? I suppose its a cologne. |

Gosh, its obviously a good one, what carbs do you run.
Did I read that you are going to Spa soon? is it with the same engine? what do you rev it to? Sorry, this should be done by PM I presume. |

If you get hold of Jeremy Walton's bible, you'll find all the basic info there. Its a single IDA48 carb. As explained we detuned it to get to the finish but the 95 dB requirement kind of strangled it. Its capable (with me driving it too) of 1:26 at Snett. Best I could push it to was low 1:30s last weekend, but it would stay there all day (fuel probs excepted).
Ken Clarke motorsport have done a fantastic job on it. Just picking up on Spa. Last year we got down to 3.08 secs in qualifying, but I'm sadly not going this year due to other commitments. Last edited by Peter Mallett; 17 Aug 2010 at 17:53. Reason: Finishing off the reply. |

Saturday would mean a day off on the Friday to travel etc. I never normaly mind having a day off for a good cause though.
I'm more concerned about the rules changing to cater for people that will take it far too seriously (read rich!). As long as my TOYO/Pre93 1986 3.5 BMW will still be eligible I'll be happy. |

I agree BILTEL, I know the goalposts were moved for all the right reasons and no-one could fault those reasons, but care needs to be taken that a set of rules cannot be changed easily because there are bound to be guys getting cars sorted out to suit those given rules.

Friday off = 3 day weekend. Nice.
If enough of us enter with our Metros, 535s, Escorts, Golfs, 205s, 924s etc there won't be room for any of the suggested..... |

As to eligibility, I think there are thoughts in that direction. Certainly I've given claire and John a few things for consideration. |

One thing to remember is that if the age gap is moved to far back, excluding many later 80s cars, means that it does take away many possible competitors, although obviously i dont think you would want any early 90s cars entering either!
I hope that next year our BMW will still be eligible as i will be able to drive the car then and can share it with my dad. |

Excited!!!!!!!!!
Good points SAMD, Mike and Peter. 86 is new enough for me. After that the M3's will surely dominate. Trying to think what else. No, 1986 is good, biased of course. Last edited by BILTEL; 17 Aug 2010 at 18:27. |

We had a car at Zandvoort at the weekend .They ran at 95db. I made a massive silencer and got the sound from the Delta to 93db so it can be done. The driver rang me today to say that he was the fastest FF2000 clocked at the end of the straight so it made no difference to performance. So who else is going to be in my class./????.

Do you have a Pre 66 GT class?
911's.356's,Elans,B's and ll rest of stuff. What about 4 hours? Ideal for people getting ready for Spa. Grid projection about 30+ |

Iain, in our case in order to achieve 95dB and to avoid buying a complete exhaust system, we simply clamped on a reduced bore silencer box. Hence we lost a huge chunk of power.

With apologies for drifting away from the simple sat v sun debate, if emphasis is put on class victories rather than overall winner it will give (for instance) smaller cars or App K cars running on Dunlop L's a bigger incentive to enter. How about overall winner is class winner that has biggest percentage lead over second in class? Think have got a sliderule somewhere..... |

I think one reason why every one who took part Mike is because there were no AppK cars there.Difficult to keep out the 'Seasoned' enduro racers if we include AppK.
