2018 NASCAR Cup Series
Technically the season doesn't start until next Sunday, but since the Clash is sort of a warm-up I figured we might get this thread started.
And I just have to say... This... this is a joke, right? The FS1 scoring banner on the left side is HIDEOUS! What the hell were they thinking? I sure hope they won't use the same graphics during the Daytona 500. |

Well that's 90 minutes I wish I'd spent on something else. What a bore. If this was an indication of what the Daytona 500 is going to be, it'll be like going back in time to the year 2000 (which was one of the worst, IMHO, '500s I think I've ever seen).

There seems to be an offer for sky subscribers to watch NASCAR cheap and the Daytona 500 is free, but not in HD.

Well, I wasn't impressed with the new package, but I'm not impressed and not a fan of restrictor plate racing anyway, so I guess nothing much has changed. Glad the season has started, either unofficially or officially, at least it gives me something to watch on TV.

I didn't know this was happening. I used to sneak off of work to watch the duels or twins or whatever it's called now. Sounds like I didn't miss anything in the Clash. Its a shame that Daytona is a plate race. The biggest race of the year is a lottery and generally a lackluster crash fest.
I'll probably tune in Sunday for a bit... |

That’s free on sky too (ch 424). It’s not HD on sky, which is why I’ll sort out the other channel
 Is it HD on freeview, ‘cus I could just sort that out? I understand it will be made HD on sky at some point.

I was quite enjoying that race until the final lap. What a classless cheap shot to win. And the TV company knew it by keeping the replays until well after the interviews when most people weren't watching. We don't even know Almirola got out the car ok. So poor

A lot better race than I expected. Wonderful to see the #3 back in victory lane at Daytona... but not like this. I hope Almirola dumps Dillon later on in the season, but I expect him to, unfortunately, have too much class for that.
Great to see Wallace Jr. grab second place and I don't buy Hamlin's "cut a tire"-excuse for a second - he definitely pushed the #43 into the wall on purpose. Oh well, only a week until the season resumes at Atlanta where I expect we'll get a somewhat better picture of whom to watch this year. |

Well, I watched some of that which was probably too much to watch, really. Tuned out after the second stage to do something more useful and fortuitously tuned in just in time for the final run to the checker.
Bullshit finish. #3 dumps a car into the wall with 0 class and gets the win; at least it's fitting. Not like it was really pack racing for those two cars at that moment, so there's no excuse. Blatant bump and run, no series with any common sense would let that stand. |

Well, I watched it, but as the late Dale Earnhardt use to say, "This ain't racing"! I HATE restrictor plate racing! Looking forward to Atlanta, this coming weekend, when the real RACING season starts!

Surprised by the polite reaction of Almirola
 The race was not so bad for me, but the battle for the stages win cut out a lot of great drivers. The race ending was a bit disappointing, couldn't Dillon pull out something more special? Great race by Wallace, i was hoping for a great result of DiBenedetto but it did not finish well for him

Why was the yellow thrown at lap 189/190. Was it Nascar's usual trick to close up the field or was it something genuine?
