Great pics. Love those Trans Ams and there's a Javelin there as well.
Brabham BT44, McLaren M23 and Tyrrell 003(?). Looks like a great weekend. I do find it funny though. Your "Vintage" is our "Classic" or "Historic". |

I remember as a teenager watching the Javelin in the 1972 Trans AM. If its old, then that makes me ...... vintage.

By the way, bevilan-sorry I didn't get back to you on that e-mail. It eventually turned out that I couldn't make it on Friday, but I was fine for the rest of the weekend. (Shoot, looks like the weather was good then too... ) It just sucks how stuff like that happens, huh? Oh well, maybe next year. I got some pretty good pics as well, need to get them developed/scanned. Hey, I like that pic of the 250 GT in the hubcap!

Neat pictures! Hopefully I'll have some good ones from The Glen to share in the near future. The Zippo US Vintage Gran Prix this weekend honored the memory of Mark Donohue. David Donohue and family were present as well as Tommy Kendall. WGI was where Kendall broke Mark Donohue's record for consecutive Trans-Am victories. A number of the cars that Mark Donohue drove were here, including a couple of Lola T-70's, a T-70 GT, several Camaros, The AMC Matador Winston Cup car and the Penske F-1 car.
The Sam Posey Dodge Challenger and the Porsche 908 Martini car were also here this weekend. The BMW GTP has been here previously. Other GTP's that made the trek were 2 Intrepids, a Spice-Chevy, several 962's, a Kudzu-Mazda, a Royale, a Nissan ZX Turbo and a Fabcar-Porsche. A guy also had the tub of a 4wd Lola IndyCar that was formerly Penske/Donohue. Nearly all of the parts for restoration have been located. The car was never run much and the tub appears to be pretty straight. Not something you see every day! |
