rFactor - Are People Still Playing It?
I see that the rFactor has been released on Steam in the last couple of weeks.
I haven't played rFactor for years and I am thinking about re-downloading. My question is are people still playing it and people still racing online or have people moved onto other things? |

Lets hope this sttracts a few new players
Proto C, Enduracers, F1 1991 and a ew others are worth that price alone Especially when you see what WMD are charging for a project that has already been funded by sim gamers! lol Laughable |

Where are you talking about?
rFactor 1, a 10 year old game, costs €20 on Steam. Project Cars, a brand new game costs €55. |

If you know whhat you are doing RF costs very little I got mine for a few quid.
It is better than anything WDM could produce. Plus all the mods are free! So it is about as expandable as it could possibly be. And PCARS is not out yet and has been delayed yet again |

Well I have re-downloaded it and I have got it up and running on a Window 8.1 machine without too many problems.
Spent the last hour or so downloading stuff and I am just about to go for a blast on Enduracers. Also where is the best place to download things from these days as old the oldsites I used to use have gone. |

Try rfactor central
And you can use Virtualr, if you click on the rf tab and go back through the pages there are often mods there. I would recommend F12007 F1 1991 GP 79 with track pack F1 65 Enduracers Prototype C Historix but you need GT legends to play it |

rFactor is still a very good game, even though it's old.
Anyways, for mods the best sites IMO are rfactorcentral and F1Classic |

I give it a go now and again. Found nothing better and I don't have to pay for it to be developed either. F165 is wonderful.

I have had some good fun this weekend, some of the new mods that weren't about last time I played it are fantastic. I had a couple of great races on the British Super Touring Cars Mod and also on Prototype C. Also for a bit of fun I downloaded one of the sidecar mods, the Isle of Man TT was erm interesting.....
I also understand there is some news today on when SP3 of Enduracers is going to released. |

It's so good, but for whatever reason, I wasn't allowed to join a lobby.
They even tried to specifically add me in, had all the correct car set up etc, wouldn't have it Selby |

Yes, I still play it on the grounds it is better than the incomplete, buggy and unstable mess that is RF2. The last three versions have been so bad I've given up on RF2.
I manly race the F1 65, F1 55 and HistoriX touring cars. I'll certainly try new version of Enduracers when I have chance. |

Enduracers is a little more basic, there are a lot of cars and the art team really do deserve to be getting paid for what they have done.
A lot of the cars feel and drive the same though, but that is a basic game design thing to try and encourage leagues to use it and also make it interesting in a league format I guess. And it works as lots of leagues use Enduracers. F1 65 is superb, F1 1991 is simply the most majestic mod I have played on any device, each car feels different, the sounds are magnificent and again you would pay for it. Then you have Proto C or whatever it is called, another masterpiece, took far too long, but when you play it you see why, all the cars again feel different really. My only crit would be that the designers have made some cars simply undriveable in reference to history, so a car that never finished much and there is only one of in the game is rarely used because no matter what you do you can not make it handle. Some of the cars are really poor and in my opinion making the game so accurate has taken a little away, ie some teams only ever used hard tyres, so in the game you can, meaning you can never use that car in short online races as it is totally outclassed but would be there on softer tyres for example. That for me is a shame as it just means you can often only use certain cars in races, but that is a small moan. I gave up on RF2 after my first year, waited for it, played it for a bit, enjoyed it actually but progress was so slow I simply did not feel like giving them any more money. PCARS the same, although for different reasons, their attitude to criticism of any kind was rather embarrasing in my view and I hope that project falls on its very large and very full of itself bottom! |

As you predicted, they've made the announcement about RF2. Every now and again, I have a blast on Enduracers and it's so much fun. I would happily donate to this group, they do an incredible job. Unfortunately, I don't think I will be joining the RF2 brigade.

Saw this thread and thought "time to dust the wheel off again and have a go." So i reinstalled the game and off i went to r factor central to download some mods......... no joy, looked through various forum threads on there as to what is going on, nothing jumped out at me, can anyone help me out here? Is r factor central dead? if yes where do you guys get your mods from, i would love to get hold of F1 79 through to 85 again, also karting mods as my son has started racing and i was looking to get a few track packs for him to learn, many thanks in advance, Chris.

One mod worth trying is Classic Hot Rods 2.0. If you grew up in the late 1970s and early 80s and watched World of Sport on a Saturday afternoon you will certainly get it. Escorts, Chevettes and Starlets doorbanging - what's not to like?
Still available on rfactorcentral when I last checked... |
