Jon Dooley - Alfa Racer and true Alfisto
I'm sad to report that Jon Dooley, who was heavily involved in the Alfa Community, both commercially and as a pivotal part of the Alfa Romeo Dealer Team in the 70s, including driving Alfas in the BTCC, passed away unexpectedly on 2 September.
I'm sure all Alfisti will share my sense of loss of a man of undiminished love and enthusiasm for the Marque and the Sport. |

One before my time, but a great stalwart of the BTCC and a very competitive one at that. Him and the Alfa were inseparable

Condolences to Jon's family.
Really nice bloke and will leave us with many fond memories of the Napolina GTV6. |

Sad news; I met him just once, around 50 years ago, at an AROC social at the Steering Wheel club in Curzon street (anyone remember that?). Even at that young age he left a lasting impression. RIP.

I remember the Club, having been invited there as a guest of Sir Stirling, who proposed me as a member. |

That's a shame. I never met him but he featured heavily in my motor sport reading through the years.

He was a nice bloke, met a few times at various motorsport exhibitions. He ran a very rapid Alfa Sud before the GTV. RIP Jon and my condolences to his family and friends.

Jon was a 'local man' when I was writing for a couple of local papers and spoke to him on several occasions, when covering BTCC races.A charming man and a quick racer. Very sad news. Thank you Alfa for letting us know.
With sponsorship from Napolina I dubbed the team 'The Eye-Tie, Tinned Toms, Tin Top Team'. God Bless, Jon. |
