Oscar Koveleski, US sportscar racer
Oscar Koveleski has died, age 88 years.
American sportscar racer. Raced Can-AM and won USA A Sports Racing National Championship. Founded Auto World company that sold everything from racing parts to model cars. Jeez, I came here to post about Aldo, and I'm seeing too many others.....
I met Oscar at a concession on the infield of Daytona for a Rolex 24 about 10 years ago. I heard somebody say "Oscar" as he walked away and I kiddingly asked "Koveleski by chance?" The concessionaire said "Yes." I turned around and caught up with him and wished him well (read about him, of course, in the CanAm days). Man, I couldn't get away from him as all he wanted to do was talk my ear off about those days...... 'Loved every second of it..... RIP Mssr Koveleski, in your McLaren in the sky. |
