Yes In previous years the guest had to stay in the same caravan / tent due to camp site space limitations, however this year due to the economic downturn you'll be required to share sleeping bags

After the huge "oversubscription" in 2009, I've not seen info on how numbers turned out for the last couple of years - any rough idea Chris?

Dear God is it already that time of year when I need to start planning the 'alternative weekend' hopefully it will be Cadwell again............

if there is one, i was barely able to marshal the same weekend this year, weekend meeting, 240 miles away...

In Toronto, you have to deal with doughnuts/coffee in the mornings, a clean portaloo on post, coolers full of cold drinks, packed lunches brought to post at lunchtime, ability to flag based on your skill and experience. Who'd want to do that?

We weren't talking cost of getting/staying at the event.

Yes, I'm lucky to have done the event, and hope to do it again in years to come.

I was suggesting that aspiring to marshal at F1 shouldn't necessarily be the pinnacle.

A very good trip to Canada is easily cheaper than what a lot of people spend on cigarettes in a year!

shame going over in an amphibious car is a little to impractical! even if you slum it with flights to canada, camping, no circuit food, no hire car, youll still be looking at just under a grand, shame, my list of 8-9 circuits in north america id like to go to may never happen...

gt1's is easy to remember the club for me, its the only brscc organised event ive done!

any event that has a whiff of being international will pretty much be... international! i dont want to send out the wrong messages but gt1's travel the world, its not like formula 3's that stray into europe once or twice a year. these are undoubtably fia it says so on the website,

No question of it. Number of meetings criteria is not FIA. Presume it's based on number of potential marshals and trying to ensure the best quality and recent experience. Other countries may be happy to accept anybody, but for the biggest (in terms of tv spectators) motorsport event of the year in Britain I'm very happy that we're choosier.

It's no coincidence that the British GP is usually a shining example of how to do it properly.
