Touring Cars at Donington on the 16th & 17th May
Does anybody know if the Touring cars are going to race at Donington on the 16th & 17th of May? It all got very confusing with so many cancellations. I watched the Touring cars on television on Sunday 26th of April and they weren't sure where the next race was going to be.

Donington are selling tickets for the meeting and are saying it is going ahead, although they are still awaiting a track licence from the FIA and MSA as yet

Simple answer is, we don't know.
I would suggest that you assume that it is, unless you are told otherwise. No doubt the doomsawyers will follow this up with their explanations of why it won't happen...and who knows, they may even be right, but, until such time as you are officially told that it is off, I suggest that you assume that it will be going ahead. |

the BTCC is an international meeting so it comes under FIA licence which is applied for thru the MSA.
Would the FIA licence cover the whole event or will it require an MSA licence to cover the national side of the event ? just in case anyone has missed this,Alan Gow has put out this statement... http://www.btcc.net/forum/showthread.php?t=7744 |

You have previously volunteered to marshal at Donington Park on Saturday 16th May 2009.
Due to circumstances beyond our control, we have had to cancel this race meeting, and your services on this date/s will no longer be required. We are sorry to disappoint you, and appreciate your interest in our racing. Hopefully we will see you around our meetings shortly. Kind regards, Becci Harvey, I just got the above too, do you think they will reschedule? |

So yes, if they can, but perhaps not on the same date. |

Quote from Alan Gow : -
An e-mail circulated by BTCC director Alan Gow to competitors broke the news, revealing: 'We have just been advised by Donington Park that they will have to cancel our event (and all other four-wheel events for the foreseeable future) due to ongoing issues regarding the work required to obtain their track licences. It is anticipated that this will be publicly announced within the next few hours. No more meetings at Donny this year ? 750MC must have seen this coming! |

Has anyone told Donington? They're still selling tickets on the DP website!
I was really looking forward to this meeting: not done BTCC at Donington before & can't do the Rockingham round due to a family wedding. Oh well, BARC's loss will be BARC's gain. Looks like the BARC meeting at Silverstone will get my time instead. |
