Photography locations at Rockingham

Good morning. I've not looked in on this forum for quite a while but having found this new section I might just be spending more time here!

The reason for posting is that I have been invited to take photographs at an event at Rockingham next month. During the day I'm likely to be concentrating on events on the track (trackday rather than racing). I've never been before and will be arriving on the morning of the event so thought it made sense to get some ideas as to good locations (I'm thinking trackside rather than spectator enclosures)

Any suggestions which might save me some scouting time would be greatly appreciated. If anyone wants to attach examples to illustrate their suggestions that would be superb!

Difficult to be too specific without knowing which of the many circuit variations is being used.

Go to the paddock and head towards the vehicle underpass near turn 1. To the left of that you can get to the infield section.

Follow round to Yentwood, which is the 90 right- http://www.redshoes-archive.com/info.php?ID=4626

then a slight uphill drag to Chapman Curve - http://www.redshoes-archive.com/info.php?ID=4752

Then turn around towards the straight between Gracelands and Tarzan - http://www.redshoes-archive.com/info.php?ID=4689

and finally the Tarzan Hairpin - http://www.redshoes-archive.com/info.php?ID=4691

If you can get to it the exit of the pit lane is fairly good - http://www.redshoes-archive.com/info.php?ID=4597 - as you can also get the chicane at turn one - http://www.redshoes-archive.com/info.php?ID=4597 - assuming it's being used. There's an access gate from the paddock, just make sure you stay behind the tirewall

I've printed your reply and when I find out what circuit configuration is going to be used I'll be able to plan the days photography.

Nice site BTW. I'm currently in a similar position to yours a few years ago. I'd like to take my interest in photography/motorsport to the next level. I hope to see some of my photo's from Rockingham get published.

Can't add much to Redshoes comments I agree with all.
Tarzan gets my best vote as you have som manny angle options within a short walk.

The Rock is great for pics as all of circuit is visible.
They are pretty easy to deal with too.

Redshoes are all of the locations you mention accessible by the public?

i was at the rock for thr btcc in 03 i didnt realise you could get so close to the action

no, they're not. public access would be just limited to tarzan hairpin or whatever it's called. you can get some fair pictures from the grandstand so long as you have a reasonable lens.

Nope, passes only I'm afraid. Closest the public can get is the back of the paddock, which has a half-decent view of Tarzan. Luckily it's a big mesh fence so you can put your nose against it and poke the camera lend through.
