Best PSX F1 game?
Okay, this has probably been asked an answered many times, but, I've finally gotten sick of the arcade elements of GT2, and I can't afford a new console, so I'm looking for an F1 game for my old Playstation.
I've played EA Sports racing games before, my opinion of them is probably lower than my opinion of Jean Todt! Completely undriveable and unrealistic. My principal interest is in driving physics, then AI, then realistic elements like tracks and weather, _then_ graphics and sound. Oh, and it _has_ to have a cockpit view. Wanna see the wheels go back and forth while my virtual hands are working the wheel. So anyone have a suggestion? Can be an older game, I don't care. Thanks! without a doubt, formula one 97 is the best F1 game as far as gameplay is concerned. awsome stuff!!!!!!
it does suffer in the graphics department, but unlike recent games, all cars have their own induvidual sound, the speed differential between the cars is realistic, the weather scenarios are believable, proper split times, lap times, etc. i must say that the cockpit view is quite poor though. |

Yeah the cockpit looks like it has come from a Sci-fi movie. F1 97 I really enjoy, cause you can really learn at track and really wind up a car and drive the wheels off the thing. F1 2001 looks good, but have only played the ps2 version

Thanks guys, I just put in an order for a copy of Formula 1 Championship Edition (the title of F1 '97 in the States). Got it very cheap, less than $6 US including shipping. I appreciate the input!

glad to be of help.
you might find the graphics a little ancient, but the gameplay and format are very true to form. from 98 onwards the graphics improved, but the realism has gone backwards |

F1-98 wasn't that bad for a first try at a simulation on grooved tyers, but it's been steadily worse ever since.
Best to buy Gp4 on PC |
