2 seater races on sunday morning??
One of the things the team chief's talked about in Magny Course was a proposal by Paul Stoddart, he wants to have a 2 seater race on sunday morning, all the teams will hire their 2 seaters from Minardi and they will be painted in the teams colors.
seems like a great idea to me!! Last edited by steve nielsen; 11 Jul 2003 at 15:30. |

Maybe... although I would have liked to see Brundle driving the Jag on the Friday test at Silverstone. Shame that it's not likely to happen now
As for a 2-seater race, all I can say is make sure Nige isn't anywhere near the cars, remember what happened at Donington... |

Paul Stoddard seeing a chance to make a few quid.
I'd worry about safety for passengers. These things are great for demonstrations, but racing is a bit too much. |

Why not have some real races? Or, even make the GP more exciting.
Let's see, who is the only person with sufficient two seater cars to run such a show? Hmmm, a leaf out of Ron or Franks book, maybe. Sounds just like big business to me, rather than a racer's idea, except more cynical. Gimmick. A fun one to begin, with, but served it's purpose now. Once a year, perhaps, at those great Thunder events. |

Or a 45 min race for cars over 3 years old. Or 13, or 23...

What if one of these cars crash badly, injuring or even killing this celebrity passenger, what then?
Stoddard is loosing his marbles faster than kid with holes on his pockets. |

Does it have to be a celebrity passenger?
I'm in for that EuroBOSS suggestion! Last edited by ASCII Man; 11 Jul 2003 at 18:12. |

I saw that race, good fun, but novelty value only. Certainly not racing.

What's the point when the other guy just sits in the car doing nothing?

I heard that Alonso, under orders to let Mansell win, had lost count of the laps and got a bit of a fright when he saw the chequered flag as he exited the last corner in the lead. Knowing better than to cross Stoddardt, he jumped on the brakes and caught out the old guy with the slow reactions behind him. Happens all the time on the motorways
Gave Louise Goodman (FA's passenger) a bit of a shock too as Mansell and passenger sailed over her head... |

Bleh, celebrity races. They should do it motorcycte side-car style with the passenger hanging out of the cockpit. Thatll make it interesting.

Put the celebrity at the wheel and the professional driver as passenger, and put a cam to the face of the pro. It would be hairy!

Ferrari can put Rubens in the passenger seat while Schumacher is driving to ensure that there's absolutely no chance of Ruben's winning.

Seriously. It is a bad idea. (aside of Stoddard "we'll loan the cars you gimme cash" - he'd rather invest in building a couple more chassis, then in 2 seaters, my humble opinion). Same is the racing vintage cars. |

Why not run all 5 of the Arrows A23 cars then?? The Arrows major creditors can have one each, and Walkinshaw can be in one of the Prosts he and his Phoenix buddy Chuck Nicholson were trying to use....

I htink the EuroBoss idea is the best one...but only if there are enough cars. When I did there meeting at Silverstone there was only half a handlful of cars!
