2017 Pirelli World Challenge Rounds 18 & 19: Sonoma Raceway

Next up for the teams of Pirelli World Challenge is the final Sprint weekend of the year at Sonoma Raceway. Set in the midst of California's wine country, Sonoma, previously known as Sears Point or Infinion, has been a mainstay of the PWC schedule since 2011.

Among the major headlines is Memo Gidley making his racing return in the #101 TKO Motorsports Porsche.

Patrick Long leads Alvaro Parente by 5 points in the Sprint GT driver's standings, and by 28 points in Overall GT driver's standings.

Pablo Pérez Companc belongs to one of Argentina's mpst rich families.
He ran the Argentine editions of Evo and Octane magazines from 2012 to 2014.
He often tours Argentine racetracks with his Pagani Zonda Revolución "Black Minion" and gives gearheads a show.

His Mercedes has certainly been a good addition to the GTA Sprint field.

No Absolute Racing Bentley on the entry list. I know that they were down to one car since the Lime Rock Park SprintX rounds, but this is somewhat disappointing.

Confirmation of the Team Absolute no-show.

Look for a few other withdrawals, but a few additions, for the 2018 season in the GT class as well

James Davison is now listed alongside Pablo Perez Companc in the #69 Mercedes. Maybe they're splitting the race weekend? http://files.world-challenge.com/eve...-EntryList.pdf

Long entry list in the GTS class, but Jeff Courtney and his Maserati not in it. What happened?

According to the team's most recent press release, they're skipping Sonoma to concentrate on putting together next year's program: http://mailchi.mp/b59318ab5e23/jcr-m...ge-vir-1805069

Wow. One of the best races of the year, maybe the very best. Good stuff from Cooper to take the win, but the intense battles for P2-P7 were phenomenal. Alvaro Parente's drive from P7 to P2 was awesome, and Pat Long's steady, fast, podium drive to take the overall championship was brilliant.

What happened to the GTS field. It looks rather small again.

+1 Very enjoyable races today, especially the GT race.
Lot's of action yet still caution free.

Who are the several. All I see listed is ANSA. Who are the others?

Plus, ANSA coincidentally pulled out of LMP3 on Thursday and no mention of the hurricane.
