A greeting thread for sir Frank Williams and his team
In these lines, I have to thank, in name of Argentinians, to F1 team owner sir Frank Williams, his family and team.
Sir Williams had managed many ties with Argentinian motorsport, starting on his driving years in 1960s, when he visited the Pampas in the F3 and F2 Temporadas. On these days, he was friend of "Cacho" who, after a long battle, was recognized as the son of Juan Manuel Fangio. That friendship between Williams and Fangio's son still remains today. After that, Williams did business with Alessandro de Tomaso, who was Argentinian. That's why the De Tomaso's Williams car had an "Argentinian line" on their 1970 F1 one, that were the colors of the Argie flag. The most known thing is that Reutemann was part of Williams from 1980 to early 1982 races. Williams was (no pun of it) frankly to recognize he was not fully aware Carlos deserved more support in the second half of 1981. Regarding Reutemann's retirement, is seen that both Carlos and Frank finished the contract in a gentleman manner, proven fruitful, mostly considering what happened days after Lole left the team. Both, driver and team owner, acted in a very honourable way. Most recently, in 2007, Williams sent his F1 to Buenos Aires, in a TC2000 weekend. And that car, finally, was driven by Pechito López, giving the three-time WTCC champion an opportunity to shine in an F1 in front of their countrymen. All these things makes Sir Frank and Williams as the most friendly towards Argentina since the long roots he made with that country. Send this message to greet sir Frank for all opportunities given, and to assure him he has friends in South American latitudes. |
