Silverstone redevelopment
My local evening paper picked this up - but haven't seen much elsewhere.
Are the plans available somewhere? http://www.autoindustry.co.uk/news/08-02-08_6 |

Interesting...good news I guess but they need to pull their fingers out or the GP is lost, and where would they go from there? Bernie's going to want to finalise the F1 schedule for 2010 in 18 months, hope they can build quick!
I did see the plans on South Northants council site, darned if I can find the link though... |

I'm presuming this is following the public consultation that took place a bit ago. All plans that were made available for that look to still be online:

That was the initial stage...they now have to apply for the full planning permission...which iirc (the MD of silverstone was at the BRDCMC dinner) is due to be in at the end of Feb.

Forget it, the plans will not get approved, Bernie will not accept the state of the circuit. That nice Gordon Brown will not invest government money in motorsport, as he has already wasted our money on something called "Olympics" which I gather used to be a sort of sport engaged in by drug fuelled feral yobs.
Goodbye GP. |

But, they'd need a 2nd and 3rd runway and at least 5 terminals

[QUOTE=blackx]Pit straight
Unless you're flying Harriers, I think you're cutting it a bit fine. |

Just to clarify, I assume that you naturally do not mean that the safety measures are "old fasioned" |

Pitpass has some computer genrated images for the new Pits, that they say is still going to be moved to between Club and Abbey, does this mean there will be two sets of pits or wil the National Circuit not be used anymore ?

If it's anything to do with Bernie, it'll be the new for F1 and the old for the rest

If it's anything to do with Bernie, It'll be Silverstone for F1 and for nothing else. We can't have actual motor racing on an F1 Circuit after all, it may spoil it.

There have been reports in the local press which say the so called Masterplan for the redevelopment of Silverstone race circuit is to be sent back to the local council to be `reconsidered`.
The key concern is the building of around 200 new homes in Silverstone Village, which residents believe will significantly change the character of the village and affect its infrastructure. As a resident of Silverstone village I welcome this review, I do not wish to see the British GP lost but do not think it should be retained at the expense of the village. |

I think most people do not object to the buildings planned at Silverstone Circuit, it is as Alan says the extra homes they want to build within the village boundary (ie the village side of the A43) that most villagers find unacceptable. This is quite apart from the fact that when you look at other circuits where they have built new houses they have found that a lot of new residents then start complaining about the noise factors and the circuits find themselves being very restricted on what they can run and when. |

A possible difficulty I can see with building at the Stowe end of the circuit, is that it's in Buckinghamshire, whereas the rest of the circuit (& village) are in Northamptonshire, are we all know what Councils (Local & County) are like.

Yeah could well be. Just that Councils are normally pretty unhelpful with each other in my experience, especially if they think they're being 'dumped on' by a rival!
