Renault drop Trulli.....but for Fisi???
Renault are trying to get Fisichella back for next season...but I ask myself WHY!?!?
IMO Trulli is more reliable of the two, but to be honest there is little to choose between them... They both loose concentration from time to time ( Fisi used to more often than he does now!. I just think it's a waste of time swopping them...! Even IF Fisi is slightly better, then theres still not really any point, because Trulli knows the team and is friends with Alonso, and so why risk spoiling the nice atmosphere just on the possibility that Fisichella MIGHT be Slightly better...? It's like swopping a Hovis sliced White for a Warburtons...same difference! |

Ironic as they dropped Fisi for Trulli in the first place

I think it's likely that Trulli has told Renault he is leaving.
Toyota is the likely destination - and he's probably confident, rightly or wrongly, he'll have the measure of Ralfred. |

Did they drop Fisi last time around, or did he leave in an attempt to get a better seat? They weren't really close to fighting for points when Giancarlo left...

I hope its Frank Motagny who gets given the seat. He's done a good job in testing and absolutely blew away the competition in the World Series last year. I hope their plans for him are similar to what they did with Alonso.
I would be surprised to see Fisi back at Renault, it would be as if Flav was admitting a mistake letting him go two years ago and thats not like Flav! Also he isn't a Flav managed driver...... I agree with the comments about expecting to see Trulli in at Toyota and would also agree if he can continue his performances from this year he could make Ralf look very normal! From what I have gathered, Flavio Flave would have been happy to keep Fisi, but at much less than the $10 million Fisi was paid by the time his contract at Benetton/Renault was up. Fisi also wanted to take over his own management and Flave let him go. (I'm not sure who to believe here)
Flavio Flave brought in Trulli at approximately $3 million. Supposedly, he'd be just as happy to keep Trulli for 2005 as Jarno and Alonso are an excellent pairing and get on well. However, again money's the issue. Trulli wants the big bucks which TOYOTA will pay and Fisi's services less than they did two years ago. Also by hiring Fisi to Renault, it limits the compettion for the Willy's seat that Flav's other client, Webber is seeking. |

I think I read somewhere that Fisichella is contracted to Sauber for 05, but he has an option in his contract that allows him to go to a big 3 team (Ferrari, McLaren or Williams), but NOT Renault. So if Renault want Fisichella, they will have to pay Sauber!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think it will be good to see Trulli go! |

I had forgotten that point, esorniloc. If Flave wants Fisi back, would he pay? I doubt it.

Actually, Mr V, what I had read was that the agreement listed those specific teams. But its all conjecture. on our part. Rumour and innuendo arte the order of the day.
As we all know, (*queue monotone chorus of Ten Tenth'sers*) a) A Formula One contract can always be broken b) Flavio Flave has no respect for Drivers OR contracts |

Apparently Fisi's contract has the teams named specifically as McLaren, Ferrari and Williams.
However, Williams could get him released and "loan" him to Renault. |

I don't think Trulli deserves dropping, it would be fairly ruthless to do so, unless he's decided to leave himself, but why he would choose Toyota over Renault I've no idea.

Webber will be at Williams so the other seat will go to someone established, not Ant or Pizzonia (unlesss he gets a podium at Hockenheim). Probably Fisi or Heidfeld. I must say that Trulli is silly if he's going to Toyota just for money but then Flavio is his management so he will still get his cut..

Why would Trulli choose Toyota over Renault?
Well, he's worked with Mike Gascgoyne both at Jordan and at Enstone, and knows what Mike's all about. |

Even so, isn't he 30 now? I would think he'd rather be with a team that are 'hot' now instead of 18 months, 2 years or so. He'll get a lot more credit out-performing/matching up to Alonso than Ralf.

Depends how good or otherwise he thinks Renault will be next year, I suppose.

It was a very dumb move for Jarno to ask for more money after Monaco, especially when the market is full of drivers worth a shot and willing to work for anything short of nothing.
Toyota would consider Jarno an improvement over CDM or Ollie, and budget is not an issue, of course, so he's damn lucky he found a safety net, if this is indeed what happens. |

I can't see why Trulli would want to drive for Toyota over Renault as Toyota at this stage seems to be a team lacking direction & don't appear to be capable of winning races in the forseeable future.

I wonder when an announcement will be made.
I wouldn't fancy Ralf's chances of out-shining Trulli if they were paired up next year. |
