Who may have driven my car ?
At a sports car meeting the other day, someone asked me about my Ralt RT30 which I own. We discussed the various famous drivers that raced in F3 and I wondered How I could find out the racing history of the car.
The previous owner did not have any info so if anyone can help me find out I would be very thankfull. How do I go about this ?? So, Ralt RT30 1985, Chassis 547. there were no less than 17 RT30 in the 1986 British F3 final points tally and drivers included, Damon Hill, Gary Brabham, Julian Bailey, Johnny Herbert, Paul Radisich, Ross Cheever, Martin Donnelly and second in the chapionship was Maurisio Sandro Sala (eddie jordon racing). Andy wallace won in a Reynard 863 to pip all the Ralts. well thats a bit of history but, someone must of driven it ? gadgit. |

Gadgit,
Ralt RT30 547 was sold to Pegasus Motorsport on 8/3/85 (painted white). where the team drivers were Gerrit van Kouwen and Graham de Zille. It was the second car delivered to the team and was driven by van Kouwen. Pegasus was owned by de Zille's family whose business was knitwear - they later sold the Sweater Shop chain. 547 was later raced in 1989 by Steve Maxted and then by Sam Hill. Hope this helps. |

Gadgit,
I don't know much more. Maxted and Hill both appeared in the car in the "Class B" section of 1989 British F3 races, which was for non-current cars. My sources are contemporary observation, plus Ralt's RT30 build list. BTW according to the list your car's gearbox serial No. was 5356 - is it still there? |

I have a funny feeling that the GRAB resins team bought a Pegasus car for Alistar Lyall to drive in Class B, maybe it was your car? They were both teams based neir Leicester as far as I remember.

Gadgit,
taking it a year or 2 onward from waht Adam's told you, 547 was used in the ARP F3 series by Sam Hill in 1990, and Steve Allen in 1991. I next saw at Donington in the same series in 1994, driven by one Nino Judge. If you want any photos of the car, send me your e-mail address via PM. |

Just finished fitting the new clutch plate and changed the ratios (again) changed the pads as they were over heating, to F3 proper ones instead of the hillclimbs which were fitted (don't laugh)
Now looking to test in the next few weeks. Any offers for a test day !! Like to have a go round Silverstone stowe, they say its good cos you can't fall off into a wall there as its in the middle of the main track ?? Might test at Snett on a thursday in the next few weeks in a afternoon session. |

A guy called Martin Ennis had it before me. He made it suitable for monoposto, only did one or two races, and then a few hill climbs. He didn't use the car that much as far as i know. He has got a jedi now.

Did Race car live last year.
Some people can't do demonstration driving, so quite a few ended up bending their cars. Then went to Mallory on boxing day, and heaps of single seaters smashed up !!! So bearing in mind I don't want to bend mine, Me and my son thought that testing was far less likely to knock bits off the car, and may I add, is great fun and probably the best value for driving. So, for the time being we will do tests and demonstration drives only. Last year at mallory, just before goodwood there were Millions of pounds worth of cars going round the track. I was following one of John Watson's old cars round and seeing all the other great cars getting ready for goodwood was fab!! All that for £80. I know its not racing, but what a relaxed and interesting morning, Brilliant. People all milling round the car taking pictures, what more could you want ! By the way, if anyone is arranging a test let me know and we will be happy to bring the thing along !! |

Adam,
Grateful for anything you can come up with on my car RT3-470 1984 my belief is it was driven by Eric Lang in '84 and then Godfrey Hall in class B in '85, I bought it in early '86 |

Richard,
RT3-470 was delivered to Docking/Spitzley on 16/2/84. No driver is mentioned on Ralt's list, but as Eric Lang seems to have been their only driver in 1984, it must have been used by Lang. The tub no. is 84-33 and the gearbox number was 4704. It was painted white on delivery. Unfortunately I don't have any contemporary race meeting notes for 84 and Godfrey Hall didn't appear at the one F3 event I attended in 85. Hope this is of use. |

I noted RT3-470 as Godfrey Hall's at Silverstone on March 23/24 1985
