Is that free to watch when you have Sky? I bought Virgin just to get Motors but with Virgin it only comes in their top package which is quite annoying!

You used to have to pay for it on Sky, I've just changed to Virgin last Saturday and just checked on the old Sky box and it is indeed on there for free.

Ok so can we confirm, does it need a Sky subscription? or can I watch it on a FreeSat from Sky box? or even a FreeSat box? theres a difference between the latter two of course.

I have a Sky box with no subscription since the 25 Feb, I couldn't get Motors on Sunday 26th when I tried but it is on there tonight and it's free. The original poster didn't mention it being on a Freesat (Freeview) box, just that on Sky it's Free to view.

Thats good news cos this post http://www.satandpcguy.com/forum/sho...to-view-on-Sky
sort of implied it was only with a FreesatfromSky card. Mind you Ive got both, but just means I can watch it in the garage on the old Sky box with no card whilst tinkering. Huzzah! |

Free to View on Sky means that there has to be an active card ... it's just not part of any packages, Like Channel 5 currently is.
Free to Air is when you can view on a sky box without a card in the box. |

I think you can buy the cards from Sky for something like a tenner.

So can you now get motors on a free to air satellite receiver? Or does it have to be a sky dish and box?

FreeSat is not the same as Freeview. FreeSat - you need a dish, a decoder, and a free subscription card. Freeview - comes via your normal old-fashioned TV aerial. MotorsTV isn't on Freeview. You still need a dish, but now you won't need to subscribe to a Sky deal in order to view it. |

I shall check this tonight... I am an out of subscription Sky user. I have next to no ground signal, but satellite works nicely thank you.
Motors would be a HUGE bonus! |

Freeview - Normal old-fashioned aeriel Freesat - A set of channels available free to air on satellite without any form of viewing card at all. Has all Freeview channels worth watching (minus Dave and Challenge, if you consider it worth watching), plus a few more (had HD before, ITV4+1, more red button streams, BBC Alba, S4C outside Wales, all the national regions of BBC2 which is great if you like a bit of rugby) Freesat from Sky - Freesat plus a few more channels, including Motors - needs a Sky card and box, but no subscription. |

No Davy, Freeview is Terrestrial (ie through an aeriel). I have checked and it is now on Freesat from Sky - a card for an old Sky box is £25 quid - Im not going to link directly but if you search FreesatfromSky card you will find the links. Unfortunately though it does not look like this is available on Freesat (the service set up by BBC/ITV & others that points at the same satellite as Sky and gives you basically Freeview plus a few more channels but minus Quest) or indeed with an unbranded box pointing at 28 east. Therefore unless you are already a Sky subscriber who didnt have the News package (Motors was part of that) or you have FreesatfromSky then this isnt going to be available more widely.

And I managed to put up my Triax 110 again even which basically means that I have enough weather reserve even under heavy rain & storm now. Again only because before I haven't had a suitable pole. At the moment I debate adding a motor to the dish and my lnb needs to be replaced sometime soon too. I have had a 60cm dish pointing to 28.2° East before but it only need the lightest bit of rain and most of Astra 2D was gone. At the moment only BBC NI 1&2 give me some sort of headache but I think I will get this working as soon as the new lnb and the motor have arrived |
