Ferrari 550 GT Red Racing

The Ferrari 550 GT SN "106404" is the very first of the Maranello race cars. Built in 1998-1999 by Enjolras/Matter frthe chassis and Italtecnica for engine/gearbox/suspension/brakes, it was first raced in 1999 and did Le Mans in 2003. I drove it a Goodwood Festival ofSpeed last year, currently in a French collection.

It was a lot of trouble to obtain from Ferrari the authorisation to build the 550 as the factory was not motivated to see private builders prepare Maranellos.

This one openned the Maranellos history in racing has the GT1 built by Italtecnica in 2000 was largely inspired, soon followed by Prodrive in 2002.

Maranello race cars are fabulous machines ...

Best

2nd hand road car ! interesting and its perhaps true, just because prodrive kept only a part of the shell and the chassis plate !
