Malboro Caps

Did anyone else get a kick out of the fact that the Penske drivers were wearing Malboro logo baseball caps.?

I noticed in one clip of Helio after he showered himself that someone brought him a new hat but didn't get to see the front. Was that had a Malboro one as well?

I wondered about it too. I know they could not say anything about me wearing one to the track but I am not also paid by Marlboro to wear one. Maybe neither are the drivers. They might be merely employees of Penske and not Marlboro and thus can escape the ban.

No, I think Penske sneaked one in on 'em. They weren't going to snatch it off Helio's head during the victory celebration, after all.

Speaking as a tobacco settlement maven, that was absolutely a no-no under the terms of the 1998 Tobacco Settlement.

But so what?

After Helio 'milked' his Marlboro hat, the designated hat man probably put a different hat on his head. They would have a hat for each sponsor, and they stay there in victory circle with everyone wearing the different caps in front of the cameras for some time after the TV cameras stop rolling....
