Indian Grand Prix 2011
I couldn't find a thread concerning the next race so thought I'd start one. What are your thoughts on the track if you have any? Here is a recent picture:
Has anyone driven around the track on F1 2011? I must admit I quite like it from the game but thats very different to real life. It has long straights, tight corners and elevation changes which in theory should deliver some exciting racing IMO. The picture does look an awful lot like Malaysia and China, but the rest of the track is vastly different I would say.. |

Apologies for not adding Round 17 to the thread title, could the mods alter this maybe?

If I should saw that picture without text I would have thought it was Malaysia
I haven't driven it on F1 2011 game yet, but the map/profile looks exciting. And new tracks are always exticing first time. |

Karun Chandhok mentioned it in a recent podcast. He said that it was very wide compared to other tracks. It will make some of the corners very interesting when it comes to overtaking.

It may be "fore-shortening" from the camera angle, but that pit exit seems to be on top of the first corner.

Looks set to be a good race. I'm wagering qualli will be won and lost in the tradeoff between Sector 2 (specifically Turns 10 and 11), and sectors 1/3, as the cars will have DRS to fall back on for straight line speed, much like with Spa.
The speed gain in the straights will make Mercedes quite strong, though. Likelihood of DRS is the straight between T3 and T4, with a possible double zone being between T3 and T5 also a possibility, though probably not necessary. |

Getting a PS3 and F1 2011 today. I think this'll be the first track I try.

Is Karun chandhok getting a drive this weekend (race drive?).
I hope he does get a drive, its not as if that car is going to get into the points so whether its him, Heiki K or Yarno Trunddler the net result to the team is still null points. No Points v's lots of publicity - what does lotus/caterham want? |
