What happend to Ivan after Jordan sacked him in 1993. Which race series did he go to or did he just retire from motorsport.

Ivan Capelli is now working as Grand Prix commentator for Italian TV.
Back in the summer of 2000 he was announced as part of the program (as a driver) based on a GT/N Ferrari 360 Modena, built in Italy by Gabriele Gottifredi (of the unraced, Porsche 956 engined, GKW 862 SP C2 car fame!). The 360 was ready but never raced (possibly it will make its debut at Daytona next month under the Mastercar banner). |

Thanks for the info guys. It's a shame Eddie Jordan finished off his career.

I also know Capelli did a lot of development work on the Maserati 3200GT. As far as I know he still has a bit to do with Maserati, and I think he may be one of the instructors at the Maserati owners' days they have at Vairano.

'Dustin Hoffman' was a classy driver who joined Ferrari at the wrong time.
He had had a couple of difficult seasons with Leyton House which promised much but delivered little and I expect he was desperate to get his bum in a top team at any cost. Also Ferrari needed a driver... He is like Modena in my book. Likely world title material had the cards fallen differently and both very sensitive guys who perhaps didn't have a thick enough skin for the top. Definitely a case of what might have been... |
