Formula 3 support race at the 2013 Gulf 12 Hours at Abu Dhabi
Speed's John Dagys says that there will be an international Formula 3 support race at the 2013 Gulf 12 Hours, an endurance race for GT3 and GT4 at Yas Marina, Abu Dhabi, UAE. That could turn into an interesting weekend, don't you think?

Are they going to pay for the extra travel and shipping costs? If not, I doubt it will happen.

They did try to make it going in 2011. No luck. In these hazy days of summer, a few simple tips to beat the heat. One: drink plenty of fluids. Two: stay out of the sun. Three: limit all physical activity. Four: Give a big prize money to the teams and drivers. Five: Buy them the travel ticket.

My also understood that there was a proposal in 2011, and costs were considered prohibitive.
After Macau cars would need to be re prepped and there would be a need for engines and spares. Apart from shipping costs team staff and drivers would need flying home and then the UAE flights and all kit returned to home base ready for next seasons preparations. So more air freight costs. Can't see it happening unless somebody comes up with a really big budget. |
