Le Mans Museum
Has anyone been and if so is it worth a 250 mile round trip! In a moment of madness I agreed to going a family gathering holiday in france. Only slightly annoyed when realised missing a complete weekend racing at snet!! So started looking round to see what there was to do in France and I reckon this could be a days escape for me!

Yep it is worth it, although I was already in Le Mans. Can't remember why.
It is decent. I'm not sure I would go 250 miles for it and then might go back. An excuse for something else it is worth it. I've heard that the middle of June is the best time to go! |

I have been a couple of time and if you are in the area its well worth a look round, and remember to get a lap of the track in aswell. I'll be down there in June again, so I might pop in again.

We went last September and although we enjoyed it (and doing a lap of the circuit) I wouldn't say it's worth a 250 mile round trip. The museum itself would quite happily sit in a quiet corner of the Donington Museum.

Thanks for that guys. Am going 13 may to 20 May, Staying at a place called Nolleval (i think that is right!) Have discovered Le Mans has the Bike GP the weekend we come back. As it would appear I shall be driving aged parents, dont think I can get away with a detour for that and camping sat night! Tho I might make my escape to le man s on the Friday for a day. But if anyone else knows of anything of interest to a petrol head at that time in that region, would be appreciated!

Much as I love cars if I was staying where I think you are (North East of Rouen) I'd go to Le Bourget (North Paris) to the French Aerospace Museum for a day - or maybe a sobering trip round some of the WW1 stuff from Compiegne north - if the family make it to Amiens there is a lovely trip round market gardens by electric boat called Les Hortillonages - great (& reasonable) seafood at L'Homard Bleu at Le Treport
