Jordan: We will stuff Sauber
http://www.tsn.ca/auto_racing/formul...y.asp?ID=58532
Eddie claims that Fisi will regret his choice to leave Jordan and that " I would expect that next season we will be stuffing Sauber " We'll see |

Indeed...you've had thought after this seasons events that EJ would have learnt the wisdom of making rash predictions, and in some cases saying much at all.....

Well Fisi always left a team and suddenly it went on an upward curve so EJ might just be right

I think Eddie should just go about his work quietly & not bring unneeded pressure upon the team with his bold predictions.

A bit of entertaining fighting talk. Excellent.
However I would expect Sauber to still be ahead next year. There is a lot of promise (not least is Fisi himself!) at Sauber. I suppose all the 'works' teams may get it together more and Sauber will be 8th and Jordan 9th. Jordan may scab a lucky position more than Sauber and get then the place in the championship, but stuff them? Nah. |

Don't be so sure. A few years ago he was stuffing Sauber quite regularly. He could do it again next year as long as he has the technical staff, the drivers, the sponsors and an engine as good or better than Saubers....yeah it's possible, but unlikely.

He's not in the financial shape that he was in a few years back. With no substantial sponsor, no money to develop the car, a old and expensive Ford engine, it is unlikely that he can do much next year.

If you were a CEO would you commit megabucks to a team who has the ambition of stuffing Sauber? Hardly the sort of ambition that will get the tabloids in a frenzy!

How can a car with no engine beat a car with a Ferrari Unit in the back?
Seriously, I like the Jordan team and hope they get some decent engines, and get themselves back up towards the front of the grid. |

On merit, Sauber would've finished 8th this year (although not if Michelin hadn't been superior). For now, the days of private teams being competitive in F1 are finished, and 8th is probably the best Eddie can hope for on merit until the bigger companies realsie that '7th best car company' doesn't make for great advertising.
Unless Jaguar finally give Eddie a fair deal on engiens, Bridegstone improve significantly, there are a lot of wet races, ro he discovers anotehr Michael Schumacher, Jordan are facing anotehr year of struggle. |

On merit Jordan scored 3 pts, if the Brazil GP had lasted any longer the safety car could have won it, so those 10pts were pure fluke.
I've read several EJ articles/interviews recently, to me he seems almost in denial. This year was a shambles, the car was awful, coupled with a 'TW' style pasting from a high court judge and self inflicted loss of several million pounds on pointless legal action. Jordan have been thorough engine suppliers like there's no tomorrow and the next one is always going to be better....For EJ, an upturn in performance is always seemingly around the corner, out of sight. Maybe he will pull it around, but if we start from here - this is how it stacks up. Sauber - both drivers signed already and a very pacey line up. Investing in the future with state of the art wind tunnel. Very good relationship with Ferrari, top notch engine for 2004 and more input from Ferrari including gearbox. Main sponsor signed and sealed for 2004. Jordan - no drivers signed and likely to be pay drivers in the end. No investment in any more facilities, in fact has been cutting costs and laying off staff over the last 18 months or so. Tetchy relationship with Ford engines, which have proved ineffective and unreliable. B & H likely to continue and believed to be pitching for Lubrax deal. No lead designer and Gary Anderson is heading into semi- retirement. You've got to say that Sauber has the stronger platform to build from. I'm sure there is some 'green eye' from losing Fizzi, but to be fair Fizzi honoured his 2003 contract despite the alleged clause that Jordan had to have a 'works' deal - that turned out to be a customer deal in the end. A harsh assessment would be that EJ's troubles are largely self inflicted. Last edited by Super Tourer; 29 Oct 2003 at 12:05. |

Well Said ST
After reading the story I would put my last dollar on the fact Sauber and Jordan are fighting over the same sponsor in the background. |
